Some of the existing feral colonies may well be breeding stock for varroa resistant bees (or ones which have, for whatever reason, been able to survive colony collapse disorder). Killing them when we find them is the last thine we should be doing. (Also a small-time beekeeper).

Signed and noted with thanks Cher. This is a very good idea, and we must all plant some milkweed that the bees love and of course their other favorites. I blame the demise of such a huge number of the bees on Monsanto with it's pesticides on crops!
