It just keeps getting worse and worse and these animals can't defend themselves. If they do they are killed anyway. There is something wrong here.

It is so sad to see stories like this and think that man has lost empathy and are now just evil to our wildlife. I hope they find the heathens who did this to the mountain lion. Shame on them.

Time to quit focusing on potential dangerous animals along the trails of their own homeland and begin to focus on the intruders and their potential danger to the animals living there.

Most everyone carries a means to photograph, so why not post a telephone number and reward information at the entrances stating that any such activities caught on camera and reported will, upon capture of the offenders, be paid in cash (which can be reimbursed by the offender himself prior to release).

Very sad. So many evil people in the world that kill innocent animals for no good reason at all.

This is similar to this poor otter being taken care of by the Vancouver aquarium now. They found him in the wild riddled with pellet gun wounds, and he had to have a lot of surgery. I think they had to amputate one of his flippers and taken out some damaged teeth as well. He won't be able to live in the wild again. His story is on the Vancouver aquarium's website. I would definitely make a citizen's arrest or follow the people if I ever saw anyone hurting an animal or person. Cell phone pictures of them are good too.

Pathetic lunatics. Cougars don't sit around doing nothing, so either it was already sick or injured, or these yahoos sat and plotted how to catch it unawares. They need to be found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law - which, sadly, probably isn't nearly enough!

We can hope they are so proud of their actions they post it to Facebook, although if it hasn't happened yet, it probably won't.

I agree with Kamia T, as cougars don't sit around while someone lobs robs at them. Most cougars can smell a human a mile away so it is unlikely that the person involved (or more) was able to sneak up on a cougar. Was the big cat injured or was something else done to the cougar before rocks were hurled? This is quite shocking and hopefully the individual(s) involved are apprehended and charged.

I can't believe somebody would do this! You know whoever did has some serious issues and chances are this isn't the only time they've harmed an animal or even a small child.

When caught and found guilty, the sentence should be stoning to death.

Sadly Noted. My thoughts are basically the same. I hope the proper authorities find out who did this (considering there is an award offered) and they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law -- Anyone with information about the killing or the individuals responsible is asked to call the DWR poaching hotline at 1-800-662-3337.

Whoever did this must spend time in jail and with a reward being offered I think will help find these despicable culprits. Thanks Cher. I am wondering if these culprits somehow knocked the cougar out of a tree, injuring it, and then stoned it?

Humans are more dangerous than any animal. Why do they always claim fear for the defense of murdering an animal. These people should be stoned to oblivion. There is no reason for such abuse. I hope they are found and jailed.
