A pair of Sumatran tiger cubs made their public debut at the National Zoo in Washington on Monday. The 3-month-old cubs, named Sukacita and Bandar, played outside with their mother, Dumai, for a little over an hour and a half as visitors looked on.

This video made me very angry. Why would you throw a tiger baby in the water like this. Let him choose when he wants to get in. This was very cruel.

Very beautiful but since hearing this morning that the Copenhagen zoo killed another giraffe and 4 lions yesterday, I am so anti zoo. I will begin my fight to close everyone of them down.

I feel the same way as Dianne. I stopped going to zoos a long time ago. These animals need to be in their own habitat and have real lives, not caged to make money for people or for entertainment. It's cruel.

Beautiful pictures, but wild animals belong in the wild. Not in zoos.

I strongly hope that in USA the Zoos are different from those here in Europe, right today the italian tv said that more then 5000 animals are killed every year for supernumerary or genetic problems, hallucinating!!!!! Shame on EU, this is horrible and crazy!!!

If the abominable evils i.e. Poachers, hunters, trappers, trophy seekers did NOT EXIST then yes caging ANY animal is despicably cruel.

However.... when there's ONLY 400....just 400 left in the wild, then for the sake of avoiding species extinction - Zoos? sanctuarys are sadly a must.... for a few more decades.

What is the point of releasing all these endangered animals into the wild when there is a HIGH probability they will be shot! Dead in no time at all. And for what???!! Just because caging them for a longer life, for survival and free from harm and danger?

If anyone on Care2 thinks that Poaching and hunting is going to end like anytime soon - then more the fool for you. Go get your head tested.

I love all animals, I am compassionate about animal welfare, but most of all I am a human being which is driven by reason and rationale, most of all a realist.

Such sweet little balls of energy. Too bad they are not free but on the other hand, they are safe with momma and it looks like their home is not a concrete cage.

Marvellous Sumatran tigers. I have to agree with Dayanna Hillier, there is a necessity for some zoos and sanctuaries when it comes to species that are close to extinction. It's too bad that we can't put all the poachers into a zoo and release all the tigers into the wild.
