Thanks to volunteers like Tracie and animal shelters acknowledging special needs pets in a positive light, more pets considered "less adoptable" are finding their forever homes!

Noted, tweeted, tumblr'd. The story is fun, a deaf doggie learning sign language! But the best part was hearing about the one who adopted her. Great story.

TY, Cher, for this wonderful story. Animals are often more intelligent than we think.

Dogs can learn hand signal so why not sign language? It's good story but I'm not surprised at all that she would learn.

Is good the shelter had the insight to teach the dog this to allow it a chance at being adopted.

Rosie is one lucky dog. Being deaf will not hold her down especially with a family who has a member with the same disability. Thank you Tracie for taking the time and caring enough to teach Rosie sign language. She will communicate with all very well. Rosie enjoy the love and happiness you will get at your "fur"ever home.

Dogs are constantly attentive to our energies, our movements and our facial expressions, so it makes perfect sense they could come to understand sign language too. Such a wonderful story!

Wonderful story. Dogs are so "open" to learning...and so ready & willing to please. I can not imagine life without a dog.!!!

Proof, yet again (and as if most of us need it) that animals are not stupid but are rather intelligent and sentient beings. I love this story.
