This is horrible. The cub doesn't want to do this. The cub should be with its mom in a calm environment. Shame, shame, shame.

Sadly, these folks breed the momma tiger continuously (or buy a cub) for these profitable swim encounters, and then dump the cub on an underfunded sanctuary when the cub gets to big for contact with the public. (Or worse, the cub will go to a roadside zoo or canned hunting operation)

This is wrong these cubs need to be taught to avoid humans not swim with them.

This is a tough call. On one hand, people will feel bonded and affectionate toward tigers.

On the other hand, these tigers should be IN BREEDING PROGRAMS! They're not naturally ''social'' to humans.

Not crazy about this , these animals are not pets and are not to be pranced around like a toy . They need our respect .

I sent them a message through their contact link saying how I feel this is animal abuse and how do they know when and if the baby wants to swim at any given time. How are they able to get permits for this and who "polices" this facility?

This is wrong on so many levels. Obscene use of a baby tiger cub just so they can make money. Shameful.

Thought I would share the response I received back from Kathy at Dade City Wild Things.

I emailed: Subject: Swim with tiger babies - Message: This is just not right. How do you know when and if the baby even wants to swim at the time you dictate? I don't know how you are getting away with this abuse of an animal.

Kathy responded back with: Same way u know if u child wants to. Its all about the animals if we have to cancel we will. We only sch 2 a day and we alternate cubs. You really should learn facts not propaganda bullying from a competitor. Tigers and jaguars are not like most cats they love water and its pure joy for them to swim and play.
