The video is heartbreaking, as IAR staff arrive at the scene. Pelangsi's right hand has been trapped for at least a week, maybe even 10 days. Thus, he has not eaten or drunk anything for that period of time.

If only all people would care, things like what happened to this animal would not happen.

snares+all traps should be banned--why are they allowed. The animals suffer so much+often take day to die in agonizing pain. Hopefully this lucky guy won't come across another. Thanks

Rescue of Pelangsi, an 11-year-old Orangutan who got caught in a snare. Orangutans are rapidly disappearing because of human actions: Deforestation, the Illegal Wildlife Pet Trade, & poachers are wiping out the Endangered Species. So, it is sad to see so many Orangutans, like Pelangsi, injured, trapped, or worse, dead — because of us.
In the past 20 years, humans have destroyed around 80% of Orangutan Habitat!!

A happy ending but it is so sad that the animals had to endure this in the first place !
