Almost since the moment Francis Scott Key immortalized the phrase "bombs bursting in air," Americans have enjoyed lighting up the night sky on Independence Day with things that blow up in living color.

I'll watch them on TV on PBS's A Capitol Fourth or at official licensed fireworks shows, but other than that I think they're dangerous and a blazing waste of money that I want no part of. Thanks Cher.

Fireworks are beautiful but I think about the poor animals that are scared for that so.........No fireworks please!

When I lived in Western WA, I used to watch the 4th of Jul-Ivars on KOMO. Now I don't watch the fireworks. I just try to help my dog survive the evening.

Toxic Thrills. I hope there comes the day when all fireworks are going to be banned.

The smell is pretty bad. Fortunately, our annual 4th of July firemen's picnic is down on the firehouse grounds ~ far away from houses and pets. I LOVE 'em!!
