For several years, the cats taken in at the shelter have outnumbered dogs by a nearly 2-to-1 ratio, said Charlotte Crenson-Murrow, who runs the Animal Control Division, including the shelter, for the county Department of the Health.

Its very effective to put adoptable animals out where many people can see them. Anything that saves lives is a blessing. Noted, thanks, Cher.

The popularity of cats as pets in urban and suburban areas appears to be one factor, Crenson-Murrow said; other factors may be the willingness of cat owners to let their pets roam and the willingness of dog owners to spay or neuter their pets, she said.

Folks, PLEASE don't let your cats wander!
Even if they're spayed/neutered, it's never
a good idea to let them be outdoor cats. It's
a proven fact that indoor cats live much longer,
healthier and happier lives. Plus, these days,
when there is such a wide selection of indoor-
formulated cat food available, it just makes
good sense to keep your kitties indoors!
Thanks, Cher!

Will these stores offer discount/no fee veterinary care? Older cats sometimes have problems that require veterinary care.

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a cat with those markings on their face before.
That cat is incredible, just stunning
