Puke!!! All of these were live animals at one time or other I don't know about them but sure sits me to tears. These precious animals are gone forever and there parts are being sold some for jewlery. Shame on the UN for allowing the sale!
Ban the sale of ivory worldwide, and
no one will want to kill the elephants.

The fact that 100 tonnes of ivory is going to be auctioned is a travesty. Even if the money goes back to elephant conservation, the demand has been answered. is there a petition site for the UN? What kind of policy makers are they?

This reminds me a lot of the episode from MacGyver called Black Rhino. They should do like in that episode and destroy the ivory not sell it.

The CITES have justified the auction by revealing that all of the proceeds will be used for elephant conservation projects,
