Japan does itself no favours by hiding it's commercial whaling behind the English word "research". By painting this word in meter high letters on it's whaling fleet it is kidding nobody but itself! Unfortunately Japans Government is taking no notice of it's own experts by continueing to allow the sale of this polluted "research" meat to it's citizens who presumably consume it in total ignorance! Disingenous propaganda and criticism of those who would protect the whale in the southern ocean sanctuary are further indications of the Japanese Government's disconnection from both reality and world opinion. The sooner this bankrupt industry is scrapped the better for the citizens of Japan's health and the endangered whale population!

Thanks for the comment. Though it is rather a little shame, "wasting the tax money" and "causing health problem" would make Japanese people (those who're not otherwise interested in political or citizens' movements) angry at the government and cry for the end of the whaling industry.
I don't mean those are best or even good ways, but not many people are aware of them (tax and mercury) now, so it might work in collecting more voices.

I'm a supporter of Sea Shepherd, that's comment enough I think.

I wonder how many of the common people in Japan, knew about the mercury tainted meat before the good people of Sea Shepherd and like started to point it out. It makes you think really, scientists have known for years but it takes others to spread the word. It is a shame that the Japanese government backs whaling, and I guess it is for the cheap meat to give to the schools.
I for one like Jan Billy am a supporter of sea shepherd, as is my four year old daughter ( by her own choice).
Capitan Watson and crews are well on their way to bankrupt this foul business and if the Japanese government keep backing it and go bankrupt too I for one will be not backing my government if they try to bail them out.

HOw much research can someone do on whales? When will this :"research" end? When there are no whales alive and then they will shift to another endangered animal for profit?
