i love it. we are not helpless. i would rather buy one of these shirts than a handbag that costs 10 times more and does absolutely nothing for society.

Jon Stewart wants to know why is this necessary. Let me tell you Jon that this is different than the BP disaster in the Gulf, where some groups are raising funds to help the situation and I asked the same question, because I felt BP should pay to the last penny to cover all cost to recovery. And BP has the funds to do this.
But, in the chilean mine accident, things are totally different. The miners are suffering because of the same irresponsible greed and irresponsibility as in the BP case, the difference is in their bank account, they don't have enough working capital and they were taking operations shortcuts and not complying with safety regulations to save money. Workers are at the mercy of these Republicans/Tea Party mentality mine owners that value money above life. Now to make things even worse, the same owners stop paying the salaries to the miners that are trapped 700 meters under ground. Fortunately, today the rescue effort managed to drill a foot and a half diameter hole through the rock. Thus advancing the recovery before the estimated December. So, in summary, the funds being raised is to help the families of the miners that have their bread winner trapped in the underground for at least two more months and without any hope of getting their salaries paid by the mine management. If you need more explanation, please feel free to call me at 561 404 5233 after 9/25/10
