The kudzu (Pueraria lobata = just kuzu in Japanese) is one of the most common roadside weeds in the warmer areas of Japan including Tokyo and surroundings. Left unchecked, these hardy vines can take over a fence or thicket in no time.

At least something likes the extreme heat. Reminds me of the invasive purple loosestrife, pretty to look at but dubbed the silent killer.
