Allan Einstoss was arrested by police after getting into a scuffle when he was told by Muslim demonstrators to keep his dog away. His dog, Cupcake, was also kicked by at least on demonstrator. Every dog will be shot on (the) spot," wrote Shirazi

It seems that it is acceptable for Muslims to call for the destruction of Israel and the death of Jews but if Jews object to it then they get arrested. Great for democracy - not!

I would like to add that mastiffs are large heavy dogs who are the softest animals going. My little Border terrier barks (not aggressively) at a couple when we are out for a walk & they lie down and try to appease her. It is hysterical but typical of the breed.

ORONTO - Why on earth would police put handcuffs on a man walking a large dog at a Queen’s Park rally of something called Al-Quds Day?

Yes, there were mostly Muslims (and cops) there when Allan Einstoss, a Jewish guy who belongs to no protest group (like the Jewish Defence League which specializes in counter-demonstrations when Israel is maligned), took his 165-pound mastiff with an Israeli flag on its neck to show the flag, so to speak.

It insults common sense to suggest he was there to stage a one-man riot. Yet police suggested that’s what his presence might “incite” because some Muslims regard dogs as unclean. And the larger the dog, the greater the uncleanliness.

Einstoss was accused of being “insensitive” for attending a Muslim event.

He was also warned he could be charged with assault if he didn’t leave the place because he shoved back when he was punched in the chest.

Police apparently didn’t notice that he might have been punched first.

Einstoss felt he had every right to be at Queen’s Park with his dog.

It was the size of the dog that apparently alarmed police — that it might attack someone. This is a dog that’s going to children’s hospitals to reassure patients!

The most alarming thing about mastiffs is their name, which implies strength and aggression. Einstoss’ mastiff goes by the incongruous name of “Cupcake,” which doesn’t sound very dangerous. Mastiffs aren’t like pit bulls, bred for excessive courage and overzealous loyalty, willing (nay, eager) to tackle anything they think is threatening.

Neither Cupcake nor Einstoss were intent on provoking trouble, so why were the cops so intent on focusing on them? No one else was singled out as a potential troublemaker, and certainly no one else was handcuffed, even for a short period.

Clearly there was selective reaction and double standard by the cops.

Instead of being impartial and even-handed, the police sided with the majority against the individual, not because he did anything wrong, but because they didn’t want trouble if the crowd reacted aggressively — always a concern. In other words: A cop-out.

The incident had disturbing overtones of Caledonia a few years ago, when local natives harassed and intimidated other locals, who got no support from the OPP. Police had been ordered to do nothing that might provoke the Six Nations group.

The blind-eye policy towards native abuses at Caledonia resulted in one man being arrested when he raised a Canadian flag. That was then, this is now.

Last year’s Al-Quds rally turned into an offensive display of anti-Israel rhetoric, more than a gesture of support for an independent Palestinian state.

Al-Quds Day was instigated in 1979 by Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini to mark the end of Ramadan. Over the years it’s increasingly become a “hate Israel” outpouring.

The creation of a Palestinian state is stressed by Canadian organizers, but Al-Quds rhetoric favours “Down with Israel.”

Fair enough. We tolerate free speech, and we should also tolerate free speech against the free speech of others, so long as it doesn’t become violent.

For cops to side with protesters against those who protest against them is a violation of everything the police should stand for in a democracy.

Allan Einstoss seems a victim of this syndrome. He is quoted in the media as saying he is thinking of legal action. As a settlement he’d seek a public inquiry instead of money.

It probably won’t come to that, but somebody should pursue police that peace at any price is bad value in a democracy.

So---let's see if I understand this....there's a "dog-free" zone around the mosque? Is it also a "JEW-FREE" zone?

Every day in every way, Muslims show that their cultural norms are incompatible with Western values and way of life. Wake up people- do you want a world without dogs and animals cruelly slaughtered to appease some religious belief?

Their cruelty to animals - all kinds - is legendary. I was always of the opinion that more people cared about animals and their cause than any other causes. You have only to look on CNN2 to see the amount of 'noteds' and comments when there is animal cruelty. So why is there not more outage being expressed in this case?

Addendum - let us call on ALL Toronto residents with dogs to take them for a daily walk near this Mosque. Shirazi is just kidding about shooting people - Islam being a 'Religion of Peace'.

............Fear of insulting the mo-rons.......
and the despicable action of the police in the Allan Einstoss case does not bode well for the future.
It shows that violence, or threat of, brings its own reward.-- and the innocent will continue to suffer as long as they try to accomodate 7th century barbarism in the twentyfirst century civilisation

It is always puzzling how many so-called 'liberals' on Care2 are so caring about human, civil rights of all kinds and animal rights especially, unless Islam is involved, then they throw out the window all their claims about caring about victims and fall blindly into defending this indefensible ideology of hate, intolerance, bigotry and killing.

We live in Spain (thankfully) where we have had Muslims demanding dogs be made illegal and poisoning dogs and harrassing those who walk them (which is very popular here). We've had people violently assaulted for walking dogs, and even police attacked for trying to defend the dog walkers. And all from this 'religion of peace and tolerance'.

This ugly Islamic tenet, along with many others, is based on Mohammed's personal quirks and is way past needing to be thrown out. It's about time that these people who CHOOSE to move to our countries in the West started to abide by our rules, customs, laws and values instead of trying to impose their backward, primitive tribal customs upon us.

Why do these people leave their home countries if they just want to come to ours and change them into what they wanted to leave?

I'd love to go to the rally with a sweet, cuddly potbellied pig on a leash. Though we wouldn't want it to be harmed, which is what most likely would happen. Islam does NOT teach the Golden Rule. It DOES teach retribution and violence against those who 'offend Islam', and that is very easy to do.

Anything not in line with the pathetic imaturity, the darkness and deceits of their fearfully darkened hearts and cultural programming is to them ..a "PROVOCATION"..THEY ARE MANIPULATORS.. .......impure and simple.

First it'll be dogs, then any alcohol, music, dancing, women without veils will be harassed or assaulted, and males and females who aren't blood relations or married won't be allowed to interact.

This is turning the key in a whole pandora's box of demands that will render our western nations unrecognizable.

Anything Muslims say appears to be truth...and it's flexible too...one day it can be this and the next day it can be that but never make an attempt to try and display your own truth or ideas or freedoms because you and them will be shot down...they seem to be so civilized this way!! NOT!!! They are bullies and barbarians!
