Either way, expect plenty of Comedy Central fans to show up on October 30 when Stewart's "Rally To Restore Sanity" will meet Colbert's "March To Keep Fear Alive" in the nation's capital.

When one who's major contribution to society has been her involvement in groups which claim to be able to cure "the gay", is able to be nominated for high office, it seems only fitting that humor be used in an attempt to fight "the stupid".

Holy Unstupidity, Robert! If I could, I would have Scottie beam me back down to earth on Oct 30 to attend this rally, in hopes that laughter would prove the best medicine against stupidity born of ignorance! Thank you for the grin in advance!

When I watched the show, I thought, I sure wish that I
was younger and had some money. I'd go in a heartbeat and I hope thate everyone who is able, will go. Let the
media coverage roll! Sanity is a good thing.

Thanks for posting this. This action is urgently needed, I have never seen so much stupidity in America, didn't know there were so many. Wish I could be there too and I hope millions show up. Somehow we have to Fight the Stupidity prevailing in our country today. There just has to be a way to fix Stupid and I hope we can come together and get it fixed before even more of this country is destroyed by the hysterical mass of faked outraged stupidness continues. The Wealthy could pay enough to get the puppets to do their bidding for them and it's time to even out the wealth a little more. Let the wealthy pay their share of taxes, why should we middle-class and under have to pay to make up for the wealthy tax breaks? Of course, we all know that it's all about the money. They are able to get some people to do and act really stupid for money.

Its not just "the stupid" that we are up against however. Those who lead our countries segment of people inflicted with "the stupid' know that a bit of double dealing will not be noticed, understood, acknowledged or remembered by them so it up to those of us who do notice, etc, to show examples for the benefit of those for whom any fact based argument is not a wasted effort. Enjoy the video and site.

Public finance all elections.

Do not allow any contributions or use of personal
money to be used in any election.

If the public thinks this is expensive , just realize what it is costing them now.
Favors and corruption in the present system makes
those elected beholden to money.

Elected officials are supposed to represent the public interest and only public financing of all elections will accomplish that end.

Another great post, Robert. Wish I could attend, but I will be on the other side of the country trying to remain rational and sane. I wonder what coverage this will get? Maybe, just maybe, the Republican extremes (which seem to be most of them anymore) will finally get the attention they seek from Americans, and get themselves Un-elected. We can hope. As your other link to Rachel Maddow points out, Republicans can't even make up their minds WHAT they stand for... they just want to stand on a great big soap-box and indignantly oppose ANYTHING that might actually help the majority of this country.

Yes, just what this country needs now, mockery. The Democrats have allowed Obama and his pack of Czars to about bankrupt this country. But this group of clowns can only think of mocking other Americans that have stood against the bad policy of this administration.

What a great contribution.

Lidia I see your contributions since joining Care2 on Sept 13 are pretty much limited to joining a group that is hostile to Care2 because it holds that Care2 just uses people and that Care2 lies. And so here you are using Care2 and this post -- which takes some intelligence and sense of humor to appreciate -- to diss the post and say something off-topic about Obama. Great contribution Lidia, great contribution. I can't wait for the encore.

Gregory, your comments to/regarding Lidia are "dead on"! As far as "mocking her" goes... it's refreshing to take a small step back from "political correctness" once in awhile... sort of sitting back with a bowl of hot popcorn, a frosty cold beer, and watching your favorite 3 Stooges film. The Majestically Stoopid will always suit us better than they suit those they worship simply by opening up and expressing themselves... the more they say, the better (and SO VERY AMUSING!)

Thank you, Robert, for the heads up and belly laughs to come. Can hardly wait to see the non-coverage by the "mess" media of this terrific, kick 'em in the you know what event. Here's my current funny (and not so funny) pre-election slogan:

DAMN a DEM. but VOTE for THEM - no more bushwhacked!!!

Kinda figure that the "mess" media spinners advising how foolish it is to remind the sheeple of the "Worst President Ever" and his bushwhacked years, that's exactly what we should be doing, with a little bit of Stewart/Daly fun thrown in 'cause I'm Irish, and it's the Irish thing to do - tell 'em to go to hell in a way that makes 'em think they'll enjoy the trip.

Best of luck and turnout to my favorite comics.

Hey Jon (re your comment above on Saturday at 1:09 pm), glad you enjoyed the "roast". See the "encore" from Joan M above on Saturday at 1:17 pm. Another wunderkind, from one of those "profile can't be found" avatars. Note that a small flock of Tea Party "operatives" created accounts on care2 in the last couple days, apparently all juiced up by O'Donnell's win and eager to show they ain't got no warts on their hands. Often, though not always of course, a zero-or-few-friends avatar that returns "no profile found" when clicked is a person using an alias (to make the number of their ilk look greater) or a person who was booted off Care2 but is trying to sneak back on. You can usually tell because such people look for articles they don't like and post stupid and hostile comments on them. What's comical about it is that they don't realize how transparent they are.
THREE CHEERS FOR Stewart and Colbert and their intelligent humor, which idiots can't understand!

Yeah, Gregory, the teatard contingent is out in full force today! I can't wait to see the GOP "divide and conquer" strategy work this election day... against themselves. Reading about O'Donnell's win has been a real pleasure. Through several of the last few elections, Democrats have been the ones saddled with unviable candidates siphoning off votes to make a few points. It seems like the GOP is experiencing the same thing on EVERY level this time... and the votes they are losing are the ones they so counted on in the past... the ones who habitually vote against their own best interests.

Jon Stewart (38)

Sue H. - I agree that Sanity is a good thing, but Sanity without a sense of humor isn't so great. But if you have a sense of Humor, even the inevitable temporary spasms of INsanity are a lot easier to take... maybe even something to look forward to. Like Jimmy Buffet says, "If we weren't all crazy, we'd all go insane."

How can you not love it?

Yes, only a person, who doesn't like themself, could believe that sanity, without a sense of humor is, somehow, not great. If my sense of humor dies, so do I.

Any nincompoop, that tries to conpare ANY political party to a party of the past, has been in a coma, for a very long time. The parties of today, do not equate with, what was.

Stupidity is a disease that is spreading it's malevolent tentacles worldwide. We need leaders that know how to lead, how to fight for peace, leaders that the spoils of office cannot buy. If we the ordinary people can see this - why can't they?

I wish I could be there… Arizona is a long way from Washington DC… We need to support sanity in laughter…
We need to laugh at the fear, hate and know-it-all messages of Beck and naive, pathetic Pallin…

These guys think America should rule the world… with a foreign policy that believes that we can go around the world… kick butt… and have NO consequences…

These guys believe that Christian values should be in all laws and forget the separation of Church and State… freedom of religion… and other religions… The other guys in America do NOT matter...

These guys believe that the rich and big corporations (who make billions) should not be taxed… The Middle Class is shrinking in America under the Bush tax scheme (check it out for yourself)… They believe that the rich and big corporations are the ones who really contribute to society… The Middle Class does NOT have to be protected…

Beck and Pallin do not have to have facts… they have the ideology to get them through...

Yes Bob, I totally agree and have a video which illustrates your last sentence.

Conservatives substitute principles for plans
Rachel Maddow reviews the litany of treatises and manifestos composed by conservative politicians and organizations in search of definition and in substitution for actual legislation base on ideas or facts.

Robert S. (111)

Since these two great humorists did not plan their event to be on the day of MLKs speech, it will lack the macabre OMG or oh no they didn't, tabloid effect. But it has something else. A real and needed call to sanity vs Hannity which will resonate with the none Fox population which is most of us. Our humorous truth tellers are not cloaking what they do as some call to arms for religious zealots to claim the house is on fire because we want to tax the top two percent or live by our own Constitution, but will instead point out I hope, the paranoid delusional nightmare on its face aspect of this and other Beck rantings. They may have to count on sheer numbers instead of the car wreck effect to get the same coverage...

I say, "Yes they can". This tongue in cheek parody of Becks sick event will dwarf that which it parodies though we can count on some quarters to say otherwise, no matter what. Thats part of what "the funny" must combat and expose isn't it...

Speaking of Stupid. I know someone who went to the glen beck thing. Since his return he hasn't sent one hateful email, he stopped ragging on the Obama's , stopped telling me I would be sorry to back the wrong side. It is as IF, they were told to be silent, be quiet and stop the bashing until after November. I am very worried when these crazies get too quiet. Any humor , but especially Stewart and Colbert are going to give us a break from the mind numbing political newbees' of the real american teabag party. Aren't most senators at least educated ?
