A bill passed Monday in the US House of Representatives & Thursday in the Senate would make it a felony--a serious criminal offense punishable by a lengthy prison term--to participate in many forms of protest associated with the Occupy Wall Street protest

"of last year. Several commentators have dubbed it the “anti-Occupy” law, but its implications are far broader.

"The bill—H.R. 347, or the “Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011”—was passed by unanimous consent in the Senate, while only Ron Paul and two other Republicans voted against the bill in the House of Representatives (the bill passed 388-3). Not a single Democratic politician voted against the bill.

The virtually unanimous passage of H.R. 347 starkly exposes the fact that, despite all the posturing, the Democrats and the Republicans stand shoulder to shoulder with the corporate and financial oligarchy, which regarded last year’s popular protests against social inequality with a mixture of fear and hostility. Among the central provisions of H.R. 347 is a section that would make it a criminal offense to “enter or remain in” an area designated as “restricted.”

The bill defines the areas that qualify as “restricted” in extremely vague and broad terms. Restricted areas can include “a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting” and “a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance.”

The Secret Service provides bodyguards not just to the US president, but to a broad layer of top figures in the political establishment, including presidential candidates and foreign dignitaries. Even more sinister is the provision regarding events of “national significance.” What circumstances constitute events of “national significance” is left to the unbridled discretion of the Department of Homeland Security. As of this posting, only the World Socialist Web Site has the story or analysis. This major story seems to be flying under everyone's radar, including dKos. " More at link above....

Excerpt: " Among the central provisions of H.R. 347 is a section that would make it a criminal offense to “enter or remain in” an area designated as “restricted.”

Even more sinister is the provision regarding events of “national significance.” What circumstances constitute events of “national significance” is left to the unbridled discretion of the Department of Homeland Security. The occasion for virtually any large protest could be designated by the Department of Homeland Security as an event of “national significance,” making any demonstrations in the vicinity illegal.

For certain, included among such events would be the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, which have been classified as National Special Security Events (NSSE), a category created under the Clinton administration. These conventions have been the occasion for protests that have been subjected to ever increasing police restrictions and repression. Under H.R. 347, future protests at such events could be criminalized." More at link.........

Those of US who have been at this for some time now and have petitioned our government for redress of various issues, protested at various facilities like Nuclear for an example, understand that flying to the moon in a spaceship is far easier.

"We" Americans are required and protected, via the US constitution, to be able too, in fact required too, lobby our legislative body, especially when we have an issue that demands attention.! They are to hear our grievances. They are to consider and act on our grievances. Now, unless you're a well paid lobbyist working for some major concern that's crossing the palms of our elected officials with GRAFT, your voice is to be imprisoned.

The only time "We" hear from our elected officials is when they're running for re-election and or need campaign funding. The rest of the time you can play hell getting their attention much less their ear. That's why Protest, which is also constitutionally correct, becomes a necessity.

Now they would "Dare" create a Bill, sign it into law, ALL DEMOCRATS signed, that would hinder our ability to be heard in this manner, Protest, which is yet another form of Lobbying! They would "Dare" add to this bill that a long prison term & fine would also be in our future should "We" step over the line of where, when and how "We" decide to protest our grievances! By this action H.R. 347, they will dictate what we can or cannot do in the line of protesting.

Government buildings, which our tax dollars maintain, it seems, are off limits. You Go To Jail! The way the bill was written is so vague that once again "We" have a law that is clearly open to interpretation. Open To Interpretation is dangerous to say the least.I have not read the bill as yet but will in short order. But from all I'm hearing by those who have read the bill, Never-the-less, this is another very abusive assault on our freedoms. What's left?

And keep in mind, the corporate run media never warned US that this latest abuse of power law was in our future. We are no longer a FREE PEOPLE protected by our constitution/Bill Of Rights. Washington has gone rogue and been heading there for years.! The media, which Jefferson warned US about, belongs to the corporations/plutocrats. THE BANKS THAT JEFFERSON WARNED US ABOUT , THE BANKS HE NEVER TRUSTED HAVE HAD THEIR WAY WITH US AND NARY A SHOT OVER THE BOW WAS HEARD. Our first amendment has being undermined, profaned, bastardized by what can only be described of as traitors to this nation and to the true spirit that was profoundly designed by America's founding fathers, America's "Bill Of Rights".

Oh ho! This is what the contraception furor has been about! Trying to fly this wholly unconstitutional law under the radar. The title bill is deceptive, too: "Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011". They were totally trying to fly this one under the people's radar.

Is the bill going to outlaw that Occupy convention?

What is it about OUR nation, AMERICA (USA), that OUR President Obama and OUR Congressional representatives DO NOT know the meaning of the Bill of Rights; Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

A revolution by the American people is fast becoming a sure thing due to OUR government suppressing the people and taking away OUR RIGHTS to suit corporations and the top 1%.

Thomas Jefferson had it right; "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

I think WE are ALL getting very sick of this crap!

I did not know then how much was ended. When I look back now from this high hill of my old age, I can still see the butchered women and children lying heapen and scattered all along the crooked gulch as plain as when I saw them with eyes still young.

And I can see that something else died there in the bloody mud, and was buried in the blizzard. A peoples dream died there. It was a beautiful dream. . . the nations hoop is broken and scattered. There is no center any longer, and the sacred tree is dead.

And while I stood there I saw more than I can tell, and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of things in the spirit, and the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being.
Black Elk ....Lakota

And so to, another Dream is broken. When the greed of a few, doesn't respect the Sacred, our Mother, and all of her children.....then we have what Chief Seattle, Suquamis said:

The rivers are our brothers, they quench our thirst. The rivers carry our canoes, and feed our children. If we sell you our land, you must remember, and teach your children, that the rivers are our brothers and yours, and you must henceforth give the rivers the kindness you would give any brother.

We know that the white man does not understand our ways. One portion of land is the same to him as the next, for he is a stranger who comes in the night and takes from the land whatever he needs. The earth is not his brother, but his enemy, and when he has conquered it, he moves on. He leaves his father's grave behind, and he does not care. He kidnaps the earth from his children, and he does not care. His father's grave, and his children's birthright are forgotten. He treats his mother, the earth, and his brother, the sky, as things to be bought, plundered, sold like sheep or bright beads. His appetite will devour the earth and leave behind only a desert.

So we will consider your offer to buy our land. If we decide to accept, I will make one condition - the white man must treat the beasts of this land as his brothers.

I am a savage and do not understand any other way. I have seen a thousand rotting buffaloes on the prairie, left by the white man who shot them from a passing train. I am a savage and do not understand how the smoking iron horse can be made more important than the buffalo that we kill only to stay alive.

This we know; the earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected.

Even the white man, whose God walks and talks with him as friend to friend, cannot be exempt from the common destiny. We may be brothers after all. We shall see. One thing we know which the white man may one day discover; our God is the same God.

the slave IN THE CRIME FACTORY OF FEAR! this person has no rights. It lives where its master tells him to live, eat's what his master tells him to eat, does what his master tells him to do. Is this us? Is this our description? to act in such a way It is not a government of the people by the people and for the people and so the answer lies in our ability to withdraw our consent, resistance the capacity of an organism to withstand the effects of a harmful environmental agent. we, the people of the world denounce any claims of our ownership...WE MUST LIGHT UP THE DARKNESS for knowledge is not power its empowering lets be empowered to change.
life has value beyond measure
