It brings up a good theory, but also leaves a lot unanswered. Could there be other things at play, such as Spiritual beliefs or shifts in consciousness? And what if the people just are more self-sufficient, perhaps to a fault, counter dependent ...but not truly depressed. These folks may not be considered as highly affected by the abuse, but not truly well either. It is also thought that some hide their ailments from themselves in self-preservation, only to come out in other forms no longer being able to be suppressed. It is an interesting study, I just wonder if the stress created the problems, if using other techniques could still change things, such as production of these particular molecules, without the use of pharmaceuticals. How long would one have to remain on these meds...would not being able to cope as well open the doors to a diagnosis of genetic disorders with this kind of theory?
