The black and white dog has now learned seven signs for sit, lie down, stay, dance, paw, kiss and 'good girl'.A deaf dalmatian which was trapped in a world of its own has been given a new lease of life after learning sign language.

Good for Zoe! and those teaching her signing. Wonderful! Now that my 'senior citizen' dog is deaf we are doing that also. :)
Thanks Susan.

This is really good news for any deaf dog in the future. Good luck in finding a nice new home Zoe.

Dalmations tend to go deaf. This is great news. Gill is a caring person. You can see that. but, Zoe is smart. That you can palinly see. Very good news and great read. Thank you.

I so happy for this dog!

I remember reading that dogs are the only animals known to respond to hand gestures.

ahh, a happy ending. for those of you that would like to see more of dogs responding to hand signals --- go to an annual dog show near you, and observe the ''Utility Trained Dog Trails'', which are a step above the advanced obedience. Many tracking and birddogs are taught hand/arm signals. maybe some day we can learn the dog's languages -- they are smarter than we are.
