Although he is not considered a pro-environment leader, Gov. Snyder still has NOT signed SB1350 into law. Wolf hunting debate in the state, however, heats up as Michiganders weigh-in on this divisive issue.

Michigan Update: Although he is not considered a pro-environment leader, Gov. Snyder still has NOT signed SB1350 into law. Wolf hunting debate in the state, however, heats up as Michiganders weigh-in on this divisive issue.

Wolfwatcher's Nancy Warren weighs in heavily on this debate. Read more at:
http://www.mlive.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2012/12/wolf_hunting_debate_heats_up_a.html?utm_source=feedburner&%3Butm_medium=email&%3Butm_campaign=Feed%3A+MichiganOutdoors+%28Michigan+Outdoors+-+MLive.com%29

**Please support Nancy's efforts by continuing to contact Gov. Snyder. Ask him *respectfully* to VETO SB 1350 because there is no scientific evidence that supports the need for designating the wolf as a "game animal" and a recreational wolf hunting season in Michigan.

Everyone can help...no matter the state. If you are not a Michigander, it would be helpful if you could mention a connection to Michigan as a tourist or as a strong supporter of Michigan goods (Whirlpool, Amana products, GM, Chrysler, Ford, Kellogg’s, Comstock Fruit).

1 - Gov. Snyder is receiving email directly through his U.P. Office at clearyp@michigan.gov

Lawmakers in Michigan are discussing whether to allow hunting of gray wolves in the Upper Peninsula. Doctor Rolf Peterson, biologist who has been conducting research on moose and wolves on Isle Royale for many years, has studied wolves on Isle Royale since 1970. He doesn’t believe the wolf population poses any real public safety threat to residents in the U.P.

Comment:

Governor Snyder may not be a pro-environment leader, but he is someone who wants to be seen as basing his decisions on actual hard information and not terribly much on fashions, emotions, and slogans. Five thousand third-hand complaints and reports of a single incident of Ironwood residents managing to attract 8 wolves into city limits by feeding deer there does not provide even comfortable plausible deniability, and he has to reconcile things like this year's Upper Peninsula deer harvest (counted) being up 10% and the use of this data to calculate the number of antlerless deer permits with wolf haters' claims deer are being decimated.

This is "wolf season" in Michigan, where they are mainly observed with howling and leaving large numbers of their striking tracks patrolling their territories. They howl and roam much more than than the part of the year they are raising younger pups.

And the Ojibwa and other casinos are open 24 hours a day. Wolves could use some easily discernible value from people visiting because of them. The tribes are not in favor of wolf hunting at all, by the way.

I so wish all these deranged, sickening and callous hunters would get bitten by venomous snakes - their deaths must be beyond agonising.

I just wish all these hunters would be shot stuffed and stuck up on a wall like what happens to most of their victims Cant think of anyone more cruel than hunters Its not like they are shooting something in self defence Its just a game to them a bloodthirsty one to fill their egos Hope they all rot in hell taking a life any life should not be a game
