We are starting a new initiative today. Animal killing contests only have one purpose - to kill as many animals in as short of a time as possible. We've been seeing these pop up more and more and it's time to put a stop to this brutal blood sport.

These contests are also unsafe for the general public with dozens of hunters shooting at as many animals as they can. They can also cause severe damage to the local ecosystem.

Show your support by signing our petition that is addressed to the US Senate and US House of Representatives. This petition is owned, operated, and hosted 100% by the Wolf Army so you can rest assured your personal information is safe and will not be sold to other third parties.

Dear US House of Representative and US Senate;

We, the signed, believe that contests based on the killing of animals are unethical and unsafe for the general public as well as have no place in today’s society.

While these contests claim they are helping with population control, it has been shown in the past that mass killing does not help population control. M. Bekoff published a finding by G.E. Connolly in “Coyotes: biology, behavior, and management” that mass killing of coyotes resulted in larger and healthier litters and females becoming fertile younger. The publication also showed that coyotes could quickly bounce back in numbers even with 70% of their population was removed. G.E. Connonlly and W.M Longhurt also noted (in “The effects of control on coyote populations: a simulation model” from the University of California) even if 75% of the coyote population was killed every year for 50 years still would not have an effect on their population, diversity or range.

Hunting is also dangerous to non-hunters trying to enjoy the outdoors and many other animals, including endangered species. In just a few months, 8 critically endangered red wolves were killed and left for dead in North Carolina during coyote hunting.

These contests also force hunters to kill as many animals as possible in a short amount of time which can wreak havoc on pack structures and genetic diversity, each of which are critical to the species’ survival. Just take a look at the Florida panther, commonly being referred to as the “best documented extinction on record”, as proof at what the lack of genetic diversity can do to a species.
Also, every year there are countless reports of other victims including people, children, and pets. When you throw in multiple hunters trying to kill as many animals as they can these risks go up exponentially. The general public, which the majority of which are not hunters, should be able to enjoy the great outdoors without fear of them, their family, or their pet, being injured or killed by a stray hunter’s bullet or trap.

Recently, New Mexico state Representative Nathan “Nate” Cote introduced House Bill 316 which would ban animal killing contests in his state. We feel that a ban like this should be implemented nationwide and that this bill would be a good place to start when writing such a law.

Thank you for your time.

That is like the drone strikes, the more are killed off, the more "enemies" will grow again-will they EVER get that?

Yes an animal abuser killing contest would suit the situation very nicely. Animals will never be safe as long as these killing machines have free rein.
