A FRONT-ROW SEAT AT THE PEAK OIL GAMES..But games are fun, and it's easy to keep track of the score. So . . . let the metaphor begin!

The first thing we need to do is separate the oil and gas industries. Yes, they're fossil fuels but there are significant differences.
Natural gas/fracking is safer, more highly regulated and monitored. It's abundant, easily extracted, cost effective.
It produces more kilowatt energy per unit than oil or coal.
It causes 30% less carbon emissions than oil, 50% less than coal.
Carbon emissions are at the lowest levels in recent years due, in most part, to conversions to natural gas.
There has never been a natural gas accident. (Remember Exxon/Valdez, BP Gulf?)
No, natural gas isn't the ultimate answer, but it's safer and cleaner than our oil/coal addiction. In it's current stage of technology, solar/wind/geothermal energy is only supplying about 5% of our energy needs and it will be quite a ways in the future before needed technological advances may make alternative energy more feasible.
So, we keep burning up oil and gas and polluting like idiots or do we re-consider a sensible interim measure?

We need to stop drilling into our Mother for this is not a road to health and well being. We've already seen the damage in so many ways that this has caused and so not necessary at this time as we've the technology now to have our entire energy needs met worldwide via clean and natural ways. Thank you for posting the article.
