This is the mentality being empowered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Secretary Cathy Stepp, and the Legislature. This is a rogue DNR in terrible dysfunction empowering and flaunting unfettered animal cruelty

Personal Note: funny how wolves will whisper, because they spoke loud this time. Thank you AGAIN Patricia! I found her article and here she had posted about the same thing I was trying to get attention to. The corruption of the Koch Brothers bringing out the removal of the wolves and the Esa with a bunch of false information! She has it posted on this article too! WAY TO GO! wow, I love this lady! :) I am really blessed with the most amazing people around me, i swear.

“There is perhaps no issue we view as more important than reforming game and fish departments across our country.” — Bold Visions Conservation

Driving back from the International Wolf Symposium, I glimpsed a large billboard featuring the American flag, a large gun display, and an ominous message, summarized as “keep control of your guns and you can control everything else.”

Everything includes you, me, the majority of citizens, legislators, wilderness, wildlife and wolves.

Wolves no longer carry only vestiges of “Big Bad Wolf” fairy tales. A new film, “Wolves in Government Clothing,” further demonizes wolves, tying them to extremist fear and loathing of “big government,” conflating the two, and inflaming virulent hatred of wolves.

The persecution of wolves goes far deeper than their minor predation compared to wolf contribution to healthy ecosystems could allow. This is ideological madness. On its website, Earth Island Journal has a photo taken from Facebook of Wyoming hunters wearing white masks as they display the American flag and a dead wolf. The "Fed up in Wyoming" photo carries a lot of hatred that extends beyond wolves.

Author James William Gisbon writes: “With the Klan-like hoods and the ostentatious display of the American flag, the photo is a glimpse into the mentality of those behind the anti-wolf campaign. There is, apparently, a cohort of people who view the destruction of wild nature as something to be celebrated, something quintessentially America. They are play acting at both patriotism and rebellion. And, in their play-acting, they reveal a great deal about the paranoid fantasies that have gripped some people in the age of Obama.”

Commenting on the website, Ken Fischman wrote: “The symbolism, which they unconsciously display, is crystal clear. The image is almost identical to those I have seen of Ku Klux Klan members in various archives about lynchings. Just substitute for that wolf, a black man hanging from a tree limb, and you will see what I mean,”

Wolf killer comments on the Wisconsin Wolf Hunt Facebook page include:

Tom Handrick: “I hope everyone wounds at least 10 before filling their tag. Kill 'em all."

Garrett Shaw: “Gut shot every one before you kill one.”

And “Dear Anti-wolf hunt nut jobs — BANG BANG BANG — they are still all dead! ”

This is the mentality being empowered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Secretary Cathy Stepp, and the Legislature. This is a rogue DNR in terrible dysfunction empowering and flaunting unfettered animal cruelty.

Professor Dave Hochtritt called me from Green Bay, in despair, to report that 197 wolves were killed in 23 days. He had asked a trapper how he “dispatches” a wolf in a steel jaw trap. The trapper said, “If I am in a good mood, I shoot him between the eyes. If I feel angry, I gut shoot him and make him suffer for hours and die slowly.”

Such is the entitlement of a rogue agency in flagrant abuse of their thin guise of serving the rest of us, or science, or nature, effectively saying: “We can do this and throw it in your face. Not only wolves, but you, the general citizenry, are subject to our control and violence. The 80 percent of you who are against killing wolves are irrelevant.”

The Natural Resources Board is composed of seven political appointees who are payback for political favors. These board members are hunting activists, representing the NRA, farmers, hunters, trappers, and hounders against the rest of the public. They are not scientists. The DNR uses this board to cover for the lack of peer-reviewed science, giving cover to its expanding killing agenda.

“It’s time that game and fish departments move into the 21st century," says Bold Visions of New Mexico in agreeing with Wildlife Ethic of Wisconsin and promoting an “outdoor user fee” to replace killing license bias in state agencies. "But as long as departments gain most of their revenue from hunting and trapping tags, and the tax on firearms and ammunition, we are left with little or no voice.”

Oakmoss Education in New York state, responding to the Wyoming photo, agrees: “Time for the other 90 percent of us to take back the power we possess so to protect both animal and plant life upon which we depend for healthy ecosystems and our own existence. ... Insist that the funding of wildlife and land management come from GENERAL FUNDS and NOT from the sale of licenses to hunt, fish or trap. This funding source skews both policy and enforcement to please the small percentage of the population who pay the fees. It does NOT create more healthy ecosystems but, instead, deteriorates the natural trophic hierarchy and ecological balance, harming all life on Earth.”

It is indeed time for the madness to end and the sheer numbers of us to organize to protect our own. Where is any sense of decency?

The Oakmoss entry ends with a definition of Homo sapiens: “the only species on planet Earth consciously engineering their own extinction.”

Contact Sen. Neal Kedzie, chair of the Senate Natural Resources Committee, to oppose Wisconsin's ongoing wolf kill, and contact Interior Secretary Sally Jewell to urge her to protect our wolves.

Sick people, it's so horrible - how can people go home after torturing these beautiful animals and sleep at night! Frances you are right, it's the KKK and all those disgusting red necks, disturbed, uneducated, ignorant, full of hate - miserable excuses for human beings, they appreciate nothing and respect nothing because of their own inadequacies, I don't think therapy would even help, it's heredity and environment together. But we are doomed, with such disgusting pieces of trash around us, they grow in numbers...how scary!

Words are inadequate to express how horrible this is, especially the information from Giana. Who are these subhumans who get pleasure from causing such pain to innocent animals? It's hard to believe that the wonderful people on Care2 and those monsters are of the same species.

This is beyond words, I am appalled at the cruelty of these murderers. You should be ashamed of yourselves for enjoying seeing these innocent victims suffer, that is sick. If you forgot, we SHARE this earth with the animals , they are not disposable and their lives matter and hate to inform you it isn't all about the humans.

Hunters are NOTHING, NOTHING but gun-toting, trigger-happy, brain-dead, gutless, heartless, soul-less a$$holes with NO compassion, NO empathy and NO moral ethics whatsoever. Its just a pity that they don't start hunting each other to extinction and do the rest of the world a favour. Shame on these cruel, brutal sick individuals, they truly are low-life scum.

I am with you Richard S. Just reading the headline I just could not express how I felt.
Trish, they are not behaving like uncivilized, sadistic, vile animal haters-they ARE sadistic,, barbaric animal haters. There is nothing that could happen to them that would be bad enough. This is one of the big differences between humans and the rest of the animals. Animals kill and take what they need-humans kill because they can and care not about the violence they are doing or the impact. I am not a violent person but people like this make me feel violent. I could watch them burn and not feel a thing.

Well, if you can't kill humans you kill wolves. Congratulations to all the departments of wildlife that allow wolf hunting. You are allowing very sadistic killing of innocent animals. Most of these "people" do not portray the true hunter. They portray death, destruction, hate, .....................A culture change is coming.

I'm convinced that there are some very sick humans in the world. I've sent off an e-mail to Senator Neil Kedzie, chair of the Natural Resources Committee and hope all you caring people will do the same. This DNR of Wisconsin are the same ones who gleefully killed "Giggles" the fawn if I'm not mistaken. This bunch is targeting the wolf pups. They are beyond sub-human to me.

Amazing that these humanoids walk on two legs among us. They are the scum on the bottom of the gene pool. How they manage to find mates and spawn offspring is beyond comprehension.

These people are sick, sick, sick! And they are legally allowed to run around with guns, killing innocent beings in the most sadistic manner they can think of?

These are the same people who torture and maim pets when they are growing up. They have just found a legal outlet for their sadism. It breaks my heart to know they torture their victims before finally allowing them to die. Sick, sadistic, killers; they should be in prison. Our only hope is they kill each other before killing any more innocents.

The psychological profile of serial killers is consistent with the characteristic traits of hunters . . . . Why do we allow this type of behavior to continue in this world. Ban hunting.

Americans are growing up with the gun, they hurt each other the most with that sort of cowardly status symbol. The gun lobby is laughing all the way to the bank. The rest of the world is laughing at them for being stupid cowards. The military is no different, the bigger the bomb or the napalm canister, the better. After all, they get dropped from 30000 feet.
