As a socially-conscious shopper, I request that you swiftly remove all SodaStream products from your national supply chain, so that Canadian Tire is no longer complicit in the violation of Palestinians' human rights.

As a socially-conscious shopper, I request that you swiftly remove all SodaStream products from your national supply chain, so that Canadian Tire is no longer complicit in the violation of Palestinians’ human rights.

SodaStream’s main production facility is located in Ma’ale Adumim, an Israeli settlement built on the dispossessed land of Palestinians in occupied Palestine. Israeli settlements contravene international law as laid out in the Fourth Geneva Convention. The International Court of Justice has confirmed that the settlements violate international law, a position that is also held by the Canadian government.

Accordingly, Canadian Tire’s purchasing and retailing of SodaStream products appears to violate its own Supplier Code of Business Conduct, which states in Section D that all suppliers must “comply with the laws and regulations, whether domestic or foreign, which govern the conduct of their businesses.”

There is a growing international movement to boycott SodaStream products until the company removes its operations from the West Bank in occupied Palestine.

I therefore request that you immediately halt the promotion and sale of all SodaStream products to Canadian Tire franchisees across the country.

Signed - Thanks, Jess.
My family were great sodastream users - when the factory was in the UK. My machine now stands unused ... I guess I'll end up having to smash it!

Hi :)

Funny thing about SodaStream: It's the "Costco" of settlement-companies. A lot of the accusations have some degree of accuracy with those companies, but specifically not SodaStream. It pay its workers equally, gives them equal access to services and working-conditions, and makes extensive religious allowances for workers of all faiths who must pray during the workday. It is, in fact, the perfect example for people to hold up in contrast to others, doing more for Palestinian workers' rights than the entire boycott-campaign. This campaign could not have chosen a worse target.

Stephen, please, don't believe the corporate BS. You can believe all you want about the working conditions, you cannot get away from the fact that the factory is built on STOLEN LAND!
