TEMPIO PAUSANIA, Sardinia (Reuters) - If you buy a bottle of wine with a metal screw-top or a plastic cork, you won't just be thumbing your nose at tradition. You may also be dooming the world's cork forests.

This is so sad, the same thing is happening here in Portugal, in the Alentejo. the cork "industry" is such a non-damaging one, the trees are not cut down, bark is stripped from a section of each one and then that tree is left alone for years.
I never buy wine sealed with anything except corks, a little spoilage is a small price to pay to keep this ancient tradition alive.
