Humans kill about 100 million sharks each year, mostly for their fins, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and conservationists are warning that dozens of species are under threat.

It's good that there is more awareness about the issue with some restaurants dropping the dish from the menu. With lesser demands, there would be lesser supply, though I think there is still a long way to go and more could still be done.

Yahoo owns a 40% share in China's shark-finning company Alibaba. Hypocrites.

China must be stopped. I mistakenly thought China cared about animals based on their commitment to Pandas. Then I learned our zoos pay them $1M/year to share their Pandas with our zoos. Their consumption of shark fins and the cruel and inhumane way they cut off those fins while alive and leave them to die slowly is horrific. I say we petition our zoos and ask them to stop renting Pandas from China until they stop eating and killing sharks. Give them something to think about in revenue they will not get from America.

Shark fin soup is a stupid luxury item, not an important cultural tradition that needs to be preserved...

Someone ought to cut off their ears to let them see how it feels!!! Sharks have feeling too - no animal should feel pain!!!
