Great wiki article comparing the up front and life cycle costs of various lighting options. It's tough to imagine, but LEDs are the most cost-efficient choice vs. incandescent and CFL equivalents.

I understand the point but I can't see myself being able to pay $100 for a light bulb. I'd have to constantly move one bulb from room to room because I couldn't afford any more.
