This is not knew news. Do we think torturing people is over? I'm still waiting to see what develops. So far I see no real, significant, changes anywhere. Not that I expected any. Not a lot of news today from the papers. Might want to check the following links....

It will be a great day in the sun when all the creatures from the past 8 years are forced out from under the rock and out into the light of day. If you don't deal with history and learn SOMETHING from the past stupid errors, then it will happen again and again. An open investigation and public trial must happen for this nation to heal, and move forward with a new found sense dignity.

She and all the government officials involved should be sent to the Hague and tried for crimes against humanity.

"So What? She had a high position job and supported the President."

Rice, from Stanford, was at the time (late 80's) regarded as the leading "expert" on the Soviet Union and yet didn't see the fall of the Berlin Wall coming. She testified that although briefed on a report entitled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US" a month before 9/11, she couldn't imagine what was to happen. Here's another event she was surprised by:

Though appointed by the only elected President with an MBA in business, the fact he never had a successful endeavor (in business) is key in observing the most outrageous "Peter-principle" appointment in political history. (At least in my lifetime!)

I personally think she has been groomed to be the patsy on this deal and thus this "news" was inevitable.

As for supporting illegal deeds, those blinded by ambition can be comforted with your logic.

To be fair here, everyone in Congress that was there during the Bush years, Especially Pelosi, had this same information and all of them were briefed and they signed the same OK that Rice did. This is not just one person. If they want to take to trial what happened, they will have to take everyone, not just single out a few because it fits their cause. We need the transparency that was promised, not just a glimpse of the pages that they want us to see, or the signatures of just the ones they want us to view and take to task. I want the truth no matter who was involved and that will be a big list.

Noted! And to level the playing field, the senate and the house democrats were not privy to the intellegence that cause this mess in the first place. I don't know about the republicans because I don't have much contact with them. The faulty intellegence that started this mess in Iraq was no given to Congress.I received that information from more than one United State Senators. As far as waterboarding is concerned, it is a war crime and flies in the face of the Geneva Convention. All who endorsed or condoned it especially on the upper level of the former administration should be tried on war crimes. Waterboarding is indeed torture!
