Frankly, this makes me mad. I don't think they should be able to kill a special animal for religious purposes. This may open up doors for other people to ask for permits to kill endangered animals. What do you think about this situation?

Bald Eagles are a symbol of our nation.

Religions are formed of symbols.

So what are they saying, "Kill the nation?"

Like the interpretation Zee, and maybe they are with legitamate reason, but nonetheless, I reject any killing of any animal for "religious" or "spirtual" purposes. It means absolutely NOTHING except murder. Murder is murder is murder and please don't rosy it up with some spiritual significance that it doesn't have. Apparently they don't recognize that all life has as much value as their own. BIG "SPIRITUAL" MISS. And killing and issuing permits to kill an endangered species is disgusting.

I totally agree. That is why I had to share this. If they give this tribe a permit to kill 2 bald eagles....this opens doors for any other crazy person to say they need to slaughter endangered animals for "religious" reasons.... imagine how many permits they have given out that didn't make in the news! How many special animals have been killed because they were provided with a permit? Not fair....I hate this.

Any religion that condones killing is a religion not worth practicing.

Being American Indian descent and proud NOT to be a christian, I know some religions do perform sacrifices, even catholics. I don't know what religion these people are practicing but I thought we were above all that.

I almost posted this story, Lindsey....I opted to choose posting the Decorah Iowa, nesting eagles instead. Many birds are nesting now, and are moms and dads with eggs in their nests. I am saddened to read that U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has granted the Tribe to kill two eagles. Magnificent raptors slaughtered for religion. Again.

I despise the fact that there are those who use religion as a miserable excuse to kill God's creatures.

This is murder, pure and simple!
God does not require a "blood sacrifice"!!--I was a Catholic for 30+ years and certainly never knew or participated in any blood sacrifice!
This is the slaughter of two innocent beings!
How can congress justify the killing of an endangered species?
NO!!! NO!!! NO!!!

What is this? This is the 3rd post I've come across about our A.B.Es. American Bald Eagles are precious unto the Lord and US!! Teresa's right; God does NOT require a ''blood sacrifice!'' Oh, those of us who believe in prayer need to pray about this and ask God to Protect our bald eagles! And ALL our animals. Thnx Linds!

We rail and rant and rave over other cultures doing just this. It's far past time to STOP giving ANY so-called "religion" ANYWHERE the right to KILL other beings. STOP THE CRUELTY!

If it was an animal that wasn't endangered, I wouldn't be offended unless they were going to torture it. That being said...

This is an endangered animal! Are you kidding me?!

I couldn't face reading the whole article. But if this ceremony is periodical, say annual, does that mean that this tribe will be allowed to kill two bald eagles every time?
If this is how we treat an endangered species, I tremble for the humble non-protected wildlife.

NO they should NOT be killed. The Eagle is a national symbol. If people start killing them again, they will end up on the endangered list. And could become EXTINCT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder, if Franklin had succeeded in promoting his choice for the national bird, would Turkeys be endangered while bald eagles are raised in captivity, bred to grow to freakish sizes, then slaughtered and devoured by the millions each November?
