Portland Firefighters Rescue Horse From Old Septic Tank (VIDEO)

Portland firefighters rescued a 34-year-old Quarter horse from a Northeast Portland septic tank Monday afternoon. Roxy fell in the old tank at about 4:30 at 13th and Gertz and was stuck for about half an hour with only her head visible above ground.

Lucky horse, thank you fire department ! I hope this encourages Roxys guardian, and anyone else with an old septic or well, to completely fill them up with stones, concrete or earth and make them safe for animals and people.

Do hope she isn't affected by shock. Glad she was freed. Good for the kind firefighters. This is how horses should be treated that includes the mustangs.

WOW...poor Roxy, I hope she will be o.k. Why in the world was this septic tank not covered? This was an accident waiting to happen. Thanks to all the firefighters for saving Roxy. Good luck Roxy, hope you heal soon!!
