Here is a video that I actually took! I saw these 3 beautiful deer in a parking lot in Key West. Key Deer are a different, smaller breed of deer that live only in the Florida Keys. Sorry the video is so shaky, but it is rare to get so close!

Awesome footage!! How lucky not only to get so close to get these shots but also to live where you can see them running about!! Very cool!! I live in the Pacific Northwest and wildlife is abundant here when camping or just sitting on your deck with a cup of coffee....but these little deer are ones like I haven't ever seen. Thanks for sharing!!

Oh Lindsey, how wonderful for you to post his video. It reassures me that the protection set for the Key Deer is obviously in tact & working. It's been a while since I've been home at least a couple of years. And even longer since I've been back to Key West. I remember the last time my husband & I drove down for vacation, seeing all the Key Deer signs & hoping to see one. Never did get to, as hard as I looked. So, that's why your video is all the more special to me! :)

TU for sharing Lindsey. The last time I was in the Keys was a 2 week camping trip at Bahia Honda State Park in 1991. I heard then that the number of key deer was rapidly diminishing due to deaths by cars and trucks. So glad to know they are still there and hope they have made a comeback.

I remember seeing the Key Deers in the Keys back in 1997 on one of my
cross country rides on my Harley Hog. They are small on cute... Lol...

Key Deer are very tame and will come right up to you. They are begging for food and feeding them or hitting one are both serious law infractions. Their home is BIg Pine and Noname Key and NOT Key West.I encourage you not to feed them as they become tame and head toward populated areas and become a target for car strikes.

so pretty! I have tame deer, groundhogs, skunks, raccoons, cats, owls, blue birds and others right in a cul de sac in Edison NJ!!! Your video is terrific. I love the grace of deer. I forced one that had been hit to stand and run into the woods while trucks and cars drove around me. Couldn't help it!!! Her one leg was hurt but she was able to run off anyway.
