I feel like I'm being tugged from one side of this case to the other with respectable advocacy groups on opposite ends. Nevertheless this case is heartbreaking to say the least!

I must agree with Nadia - there conflicting issues. One side says it is so and the otherside (with backing from vets etc) says no, If she is guilty as charged - then who cares if she WANTS to surrender the cats or not? Can't some others go in there and look after them and get them treatment while the case is being seen to instead of rounding up those apparently already traumatised felines and transporting them to other places? I do not agree with cageing them in some unfamiliar location. Get that person away and temporarely take over the place until matters are settled. The most important thing is the immediate welfare of those cats. (my opinion)

It is never easy hearing these kinds of happenings. Yet they seem to be happening more and more. I agree the most important thing is the immediate welfare of the cats. I think stories like this don't start out with the end result what they wanted to achieve in the begining. Another sad day.

A rescue initiative so immense would benefit from regulatory guidance, just like a ranch or a farm.

The regulatory authority could then award a certificate of excellence or seal of approval, which could be used to enhance fundraising and staff recruitment, and obtain publicity in newspapers and media outlets.

The fair and proper treatment of animals is not an issue for Pennsylvanians, or for Americans, but for all humanity.

A Chinese regime that can torment cats, dogs, and tigers, has no trouble rolling tanks over student protestors in Tianamen Square, or gunning down Buddhist monks in the Tibetan streets. Neglect begets cruelty, cruelty begets torture, and torture begets murder.

I read this and it rips you wide open to see and read this. In my mind I can see all these cats meowing so almost dead others running up to you like Where is the food? And others that won't make it. I just hope this person who was taking care of these cats gets whats comming to her or him for it will deserved. Thanks Dave for all you do, You are one special person. noted

It's worth reading what Chris DeRose has to say (President and Founder of Last Chance for Animals - LCA) http://www.care2.com/news/member/101011779/679146

She must take in a lot of already neglected cats, she claims they were receiving meds, not cool leaving dead/dying cats lying around the place though, especially if some of these illnesses are contagious ? Maybe she couldn't keep up with the amount of ill cats coming in ? It's a very sad situation, they would've all been gassed if placed in kill 'shelters', so I suppose she is giving them the very last chance that many others don't get, shame on the people who have dumped their poorly cats on her.

I have to agree with Nadia, I'm not sure what to think. Not having been up ther to see for myself and reading so many conflicting accounts the jury is still out for me.

This story is indicative of the huge problem of pet overpopulation. I'm sure these people started out with the best of intentions, but soon became overwhelmed with the sheer volume of animals being dropped off. We MUST solve this problem by making spaying/neutering mandatory -- and NO LOOPHOLES for breeders! THEY ARE THE PROBLEM! If the ONLY available pets were from shelters, they would soon be emptied! As long as breeders SELL animals, and people BUY them, there will be Kill Shelters. I have 3 AKC rescues, all pure breds. Shelters are full of Pure Bred dogs & cats!
