Sadly, they have NO OFFERS and it looks as if they'll end up at the shelter. They will lose their person, they will lose their safe and loving home, they will lose each other and quite possibly they will lose their lives. Contact Rita at yep6cats@aol.com

Sadly, these poor cats, whose owner is dying of cancer, have NO OFFERS and it looks as if they will end up at the shelter. They will lose their person, they will lose their safe and loving home, they will lose each other and quite possibly they will lose their lives.

It turns out that the cats are one year younger than I was told. Their vet records show that Sarah, the mom tabby, is 8 years and Billie, the Maine Coon daughter, is 7 years. These two cats are extremely bonded to each other and we would like to find a home for them together. The situation is dire so they can be split if a home together cannot be found.

Sarah and Billie are shy at first but very affectionate with their person. Sadly, the third cat, Della, has chronic medical issues and may not be adoptable.

PLEASE, PLEASE forward this to every animal lover that you know--these cats would be terrified at the shelter and we all know that middle aged, shy cats do not get picked to go home. They cannot end up at the shelter and there is less than a few weeks to find a place for them!!

Correction: Billie, the daughter kitty, is a Maine Coon Cat. Sarah, the mama cat, is a Domestic Shorthair Tabby.

oh my what lovely kitties. sarah looks like my chub. what can i do to get these cats to a safe place? i would love to take them in, but here again i am in ohio! somebody let me know if there's a way to get them here ~

i already have a cat named sara ~ do you think they would get confused? ~

what are della's medical issues? i am experienced with all manner of cat therapy and medication routines. it would be ashame if della could not be homed. their poor person. she must be suffering so: to be dying of cancer and having to let go of ones you love who cannot take care of themselves ~

What about Maine Coon Rescue? I would take him.. except I am in Washington.... also I am taking care of 2 other cats... and 2 dogs this winter..while mom and pops are away... probably would be too stressful....... Is the Maine Coon an indoor? or both? I know someone that might be able to .. yet it would be an outdoor cat mostly here on the Island.... anyway.. sending prayers kitties way to find a home..

Good call. I have already contacted the Maine Coon Rescue Yahoo! Group at
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/MaineCoonRescue.

The http://mainecoon.rescueme.org/California at
http://mainecoon.rescueme.org/California has not yet become active. It will be accepting posts on or about December 15.

I will have to investigate the Maine Coon rescue realm further (although many breed rescuers are seeking pedigreed animals only).

How sad that these poor souls should have to be rehomed and it is sad too for their owner that is dying of Cancer. I hope they all find loving homes. Thanks Dave. Noted.

they will be so heartbroken to lose Mama! sadly, most kitties in shelters don't ever make it back out. those no kill shelters, what do they do when overloaded? send to kill shelters? I can only cry when someone tells me they took a baby to a no kill shelter, what do they think happens when they all get full??? we know they continue to take them in, so where do those others go?
ty Dave, this is always a heartbreaker

Sometimes i take cats from the shelter...then i run private ads to find homes for them. People respond better. Isn't there anyone closeby who would do that. It really is easy to find homes that way ....and you can screen the people really well.

If this is in LA, CA - what about www.kittenrescue.org They have fosters and a real no-kill shelter.

PT. II - If nothing else, maybe they can provide some other solutions and advice. They helped me catch my ex-ferals by providing traps. Great organization. I noticed they're chipping kittens now, and I'm anti-chip (bc of associated health risks)

A shelter isn't the end of it. The tabby and the maine coone look lovely and a shelter can be excellent at finding them homes. Good thing they don't live in China!

I would take them in - but I live in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. There is a place that sent me some information re: the Freedom Train. They will transport the animal to it's new home if needed.. I will see if I can find it and then email it to the above. Does anyone else know about this. I will check with my group - Raise the Woof and Animals Have Souls Too - someone must know of it. GOOD LUCK - beautiful babies. That poor woman!!!

I think Maine Coon Rescue would help with the daughter, Billie.
I hope someone comes forward and adopts all of them together.
How tragic for them and their ill owner, it must be horrible to be terminally ill and worry about what will happen to your cats when you are gone.

I spoke with Rita, the contact person by e-mail.. because I had found someone here on orcas who expressed interest.. she said that there was alot of interest locally and it looked like they had found homes... she wants to keep them in the area. I feel with all the output.. that they will find happiness again.

Hello, Dave and all our friends here! These two girls - like all kitties - are absolutely gorgeous. I hope and pray they will find a loving home. My heart goes out to their guardian and family as well. Prayers and warm thoughts all around, and special thanks to you, Dave!

Lots of good suggestions! These girls are going to find a great home, thanks to you, Dave. You're on the right track.
This reminds me of how important it is to have designated GodParents for your kitties, just as you would for your children. I'm 64, and the people who've agreed to take my kitties when I am no longer able are listed in my will, and they have been given a "GodParent" certificate (that I made).
BLess you for your good work.

Dave I hope you were able to find some homes for these beauties. All my cats are from shelters because I can't resist...I would love to take a Maine Coon cat - if there is a Maine Coon Cat w/o a home let me know although I don't have room, I'd probably try to find it. Noted.
