There are many reasons that the hair on the back of your neck might stand up when someone says the words bottled water - all that wasted plastic, the people harmed in the making of said plastic, the communities 'losing' their water when it is bottled. But

I would never waste the money on bottled water. Unless I was out somewhere and there was no other water sources around. It definitely is better to have recyclable containers though.
Thanks Mamabear

Since I take my water bottle from home with our own water, I don't buy water. There are occasions when I have purchased water when I'm on vacation somewhere. However I think the water from home takes better, and besides the bottled water you buy, is the same as the tap in most cases. Reports have been made that some bottlers use the public water system to fill theirbottles and sell it as spring water. It's a waste of money in my estimation and a waste of resources like the plastic bottles and containers.

Absolutely not!!! The only idiots that regularly buy bottled water are gullible fools that are pawns in big business's hands that evidently like to throw away their money on a product that is no better than they can get from the tap. And to put it in any form of paper depletes our forests. The only time I stockpile water is during hurricane season but in my own containers and from my tap.

I think the smartest thing for all concerned, is to get a filter for your faucet or to buy a container with a charcoal filter to keep in your frig. Then you don't have to use plastic, OR take away from our forests.

Personally speaking I think bottled water is a bane that should be banished for two main reasons.
Firstly, I refuse to pay for water. Yes I know only 1% of all earth's water is pottable for drinking, but I am surrounded by water in all its vapor, liquid and solid forms and have survived quite well without bottled water in some very primitive jungle and desert conditions thank ya very much.

But secondly and most importantly, plastic bottled water is as scourge onto humanity and the environment from its manufactureing to its endless dumping of into the environmemt causing health effects to humans and wildlife.

So, if water is still to be sold, drinking it from a paper carton as opposed to a plastic bottle, for me, this concept is a godsend...

No. Yeah, I filter the water to get the chlorine taste out, but I only buy water in venues where they insist I empty my bottle.

I've been guilty of using bottle water. Then went we went and installed a water filter. Moved to a another state living in limbo for about 8 months. So we have bottle water jugs which I recycle and spent 25 cents for refill but I can tell you I would not drink water from the wells. So recycle water paper containers are a good idea. And yes someone will make alot of money.(It is a shame) But it is a step in the right direction

I love the idea of people trying to go hiking with a paper cup full of water in your rucksack...LOL!
For those who are doing this, I think it's time a few people grew up and stopped calling people "!idiots" just because their views/values differ from your own. Vitriolic remarks add nothing positive to the debate. I have long wondered why KENCO and NESCAFE etc. havent turned to recyclable packaging. Buy one glass jar and refill it from a strengthened (if necessary thinly plastic lined) paper bag. I wouldnt buy MORE water, but I'd be a lot happier about when I need it if it wasnt sold in plastic bottles...as long as they don't burst in my rucksack!
