US only.

It’s disappointing to say the least. DOD has set no firm deadline for replacement of animals in combat trauma training courses. In fact, it states its goal is only to “reduce”—not replace—this cruel and unnecessary use of animals. Even worse, the report makes the outrageous claim that a swift transition to medical simulators would actually cost American lives on the battlefield—without any evidence to back it up. Of course, no such evidence exists, and most experts agree that simulation is a far superior teaching tool than the use of animals.

Congress had the right idea, but the DOD didn’t get the message. We need your help to make sure Congress doesn’t back down now that this report has been issued.

Please ask your senators and representative to hold the DOD accountable and urge them to stop this unnecessary use of animals in this military training.

Each year, more than 7,500 pigs and goats are wounded and killed in combat trauma training courses. In many of these courses, the animals are anesthetized and then shot, stabbed, and/or burned. At the end of each course, the animals are killed. The DOD has defended this practice despite the overwhelming evidence that a transition to human-based alternatives would provide a better training experience for our service members. The same medical procedures are taught in the civilian world almost exclusively without the use of live animals.

With the availability of several combat trauma simulators, the use of live animals in these courses is unnecessary—and just plain cruel. Please ask your members of Congress to urge the DOD to end the use of animals in military trauma training without delay.

Thank you for all of your help.

Goats are clever little critters... I would much rather they produce milk for lactose intolerant people that be slaughtered ans targets by the army.

This is insane. They should be using animal abusers and pedophiles for this ridiculous trauma research instead!! Animals are not human and shouldn't be used for any type of research period. Def signed and shared, thx Angelika!

Natasha I hear you and understand your rage, but still disagree with your alternative suggestion. That is what they developed the cut suit for and that should be used, nothing else!
