Signed earlier, but thanks for getting these out. We have more prisoners than any other Country per population. This For Profit Prison system has seen a rise in the number (remember they don't make money if a bed is not full) of people confined to life behind bars. This indefinite solitary confinement is inhumane and even the 5 years they seek is still a startling amount of time.

How does this society ever expect anyone to become a better person when they are treated like this. There is no rehabilitation going on, it's barbaric and too many end up behind bars for non violent crime then become the hardened criminal that they say they want to prevent. This so called Justice system isn't justice, it's a mess in many areas.

Signed all. Thank Angelika. After reading the letters by the AMA about their stand -v- force feeding the GITMO prisoners, I wonder if the California prison officials will try doing that?

I absolutely believe we must treat prisoners as human beings and with a sense of respect and human dignity. The profit motivations in our prisons is an utter disaster, I hope that sooner rather than later some one in DC will have the courage to begin the process of returning the prisons to the government to run. It wasn't great before but it was at least supervised.
