I'm Philip Lymbery, Chief Executive of Compassion in World Farming. Over three years, I travelled the world bearing witness to the hidden cost of cheap meat and the devastating impact of factory farming on people, animals and our planet.

The result - Farmageddon - is a wake-up call, exposing factory farming as one of the most pressing issues of our time; responsible for unparalleled food waste, damage to our health and the countryside, and the biggest cause of animal cruelty on the planet.

With the publication of Farmageddon just days away, Im sharing a video preview of some of the shocking truths uncovered during my travels. With this short teaser film, I outline the global scale of our broken food system (Warning: contains flashing images).
*Now, his findings are being brought together in Farmageddon, published by Bloomsbury on 30 January. if anyone wants to buy the book *

You can't claim to love animals and then eat them and contribute to their suffering. I call that being a hypocrite.

Until you become intimately involved in knowing where your food comes from, growing some of it yourself, and suffering the vagaries that farming brings, you are doomed to eating junk and killing your body slowly, but surely. I welcome any effort to wake people up to the purpose of food, and how to help it return to sustaining us. Vote with your dollars: Shop local, shop small farm or CSA, shop organic!

I signed the pledge, but I have been vegan for several years now! It depends on humanities food choices, why factory farms can continue to exist. Thanks Angie
