Like a broken record that keeps repeating itself, another domestic cat has been murdered by bloodthirsty cops acting upon the blatant lies supplied to them by an ailurophobe. This time the totally innocent victim was a nineteen-year-old tomcat named

Excellent read! Thank you for your compassion for animals. I hope they do something about the above case otherwise it will mean it's entirely legal for any cop to do target practice and shoot any roaming cat they please.

Thank you Luke-aside from the devastating loss here of a completely helpless animal-this could give cops carte blanche to do anything they like to cats or any animal for that matter and it would give them far reaching and outrageous authority over reason, sanity and logic...

What on earth????

Cops shooting a cat????

That is so over-the-top and uncalled for. Unbelievable. No cat is that big a threat to humans 20 times its size. That is one of the most callous and ridiculous things I've ever heard. Shame on them.

How far have we human's come along the road of civilization!? Animals, including cats, at least have a reason for their behavior, they are animals. What excuse does the "human" that lies, and or kills a helpless animal have for killing animals? Is it because they feel they are so superior and have the power?

yeah and the Raymore MO Captain said NO PUNISHMENT whatsoever will happen to those cops. Typical. No wonder people do not like cops and call them pigs and have no respect for them-they earned the title, but not even a pig would be so cruel-which makes them lower than pig shit.

"The officers involved will not be punished, he said Friday" (September 12, 2009) said Captain Roger Mayberry.

The cops who shot the cat are insane. There is no other explanation. Hopefully they were reported to internal affairs and hopefully were kicked off the force and hospitalized in a facility for the criminally insane.

PS Is there a petition online for this? There should be. Put pressure on the town since many who live there probably are as upset as anyone who is normal. You do realize a lot of cops are not normal. They make a bad name for the good ones. They are good and bad. I am sure that in the sanctuary of the police captain's office they were told to be more careful. If that were my cat, I would bring a LAWSUIT. Contact LAW (I think it's called that - Legal Awareness for Animals) and see if anything can be done. Power is like a big balloon - the bigger the balloon, the louder the noise when you burst it.

Yes it is sad. Very sad. Even sadder, the Police department finds no wrong doing and said none of the officers will get punished. "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." --ALBERT EINSTEIN

I support our police, but it is time that the police department starts taking control of its rogue vivious officers

this was uncalled for, illegal and disgusting for anyoone to do, but for a police officer to do it is unforgivable.

this offfice needs to have more than his hands slapped for this horrible thing he did.

Hey Julie-the officer won't even have his hands slapped-the Captain clearly said that the officers invovled in this (and there were three officers)-who took the contained cat into a field, and shot it twice and killed it in cold blood, will NOT be punished. NOT - in any manner, shape or form. It sounds more like an "atta boy!"

This has a VERY serious implication that cops in Raymore, MO have the authority to shoot any cat or dog they want and it's okay fine.

You know, this should really give us a wake up call here. What kind of people are hired to police our streets and communities? This sure has hell doesn't make me feel safe or sleep well at night when we have these idiots who use their uniforms and badges as justification to be gun happy! It's pretty scary...

PS-What about the little girl who was scratched? We don't even know if this was the right cat. REGARDLESS which cat it was-this does NOT justify killing the cat like this with cold cruelty. Chances are she is old enough to understand what has happened and will blame herself (because that is what kids do-blame themselves) -- for the cat getting shot in the head twice and thrown in the trash. Nice going Raymore cops.

The cat doesn't sound even half as dangerous as these cops do. Evil. Just plain evil.
