...as a medical professional i have experienced seeing these children on the pediatric wards, and also first hand the effects of vaccines on the weaker elderly and those of all ages who are chronically ill... i am also very concerned ie the new H1N1 vaccine that is being so quickly produced in vast quantities, the chemically- combined ingredients of this one is absolutely frightening!!! i for one will advise all i know not to get this vaccine. thanx for the post Peace. take care... ps. great page!

Thank you. Opheeliya. many doctor's and medical professionals are afdraid to speak up for fear of losing their license or getting fired. How many will become seriously ill or die before they speak up???

I've always been suspicious of flu shots or any vaccinations for anyone and took great pains to deny them for my children when they were younger. There are all healthy adults with high natural immunities. Breast feeding helped big time. So I say heal your children and your self naturally. Stay clear of all pharmaceuticals, if and when possible.Peace in Our Quest for Truth

Despite the advent of a vaccine four decades ago, flu-related deaths in the United States have risen dramatically since the 1970s, and influenza now claims more lives each year than AIDS, researchers say.

The rising death toll is attributed largely to the nation's growing number of elderly people, who are especially vulnerable to the flu.

Only about 65 percent of older people get vaccinated, and the annual shots do not protect aging immune systems as well as they do younger ones.

The U.S. death toll surged fourfold from 16,263 in 1976-77 to 64,684 in 1998-99, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported. Flu deaths now average about 36,000 a year, up from 20,000 in previous estimates, the CDC said.

Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said the news "that influenza may be taking an even larger toll than we have realized" underscores the importance of flu shots, especially for older people.

The study appears in Wednesday's Journal of the American Medical Association.

While drug breakthroughs in the mid-1990s helped tame AIDS and reduce the U.S. death toll from 51,000 in 1995 to about 15,000 in 2001, the main weapon doctors have against flu - a vaccine - has proven disappointingly ineffective in the most vulnerable population, people 65 and older.
I am currently researching how effective is any flu vaccine? There are risks for any vaccine and sometimes those risks are fatal or life threatning -just because the risk is small does not mean there is none to you-those numbers fall on somebody. My daughter had a severe reaction to the MMR vaccine-I have had a severe reaction to DPT so I do not get vaccines if I can help it. It remains to be seen if those who are most at risk even benifit from the vaccine at all.
Those children and Ederly who already have lung issues and need a vaccine may be the least likely to benifit from it. so I will continue researching and watch,but for me and mine we will treat this flu like any other and we will survive very well without the vaccine.

gotta love the way the pharmaceutical companies go after each other as well. Also note proctor and gamble has gotten into this market & are in with the compamy making this vaccine.

I understand we are dazzled with numbers, I understand big pharm just like any business, Care2 included, has "corruption" in the eyes of the consumers. Care2 advertises tobacco, casinos, big pharm to make money its capitalism.

Why anyone would say looking at any internet site is illegal is beyond me, of course big pharm attacks big pharm, so does every big business. They are in it to make money.

Point being you have a choice, no one forces anyone to take the flu shot, that said I agree any drug presents risk, aspirin kills as well as saves life. The flu shot has the same risk and has been pointed out it may have had issues with how it was made, again the patient needs to be informed and make personal choices.

I have seen children die in America from measles, mumps and the flu. In my experience I have never seen any child suffer any serious damage from any of the vaccines, yes they may have a local reaction, yes they still may get the flu but unless there is a very unique event to a single and yes cherished child they don't die.

It becomes a difficult position to try to deal with the concept of risk when it involves harm. Ask any nurse how it felt giving the first injection they every gave to any child, you know in your mind what your doing you do to help the child, the child does not. All the child knows is pain, I get that. I also get having to tell the parents of a 10 yr old boy, the love of their life that his brain is dead because of mumps and see the look in their face as the realize their judgment to not give the vaccine could very well be the reason their son is brain dead. There is no way to know.

I encourage people to read sites that are like those presented by Kathy, but read for more than trying to find discord to prove your "rightness". Most independent studies done at universities are open to the public to read, if you have to get a medical dictionary to be able to understand the studies, certainly no shame in that.

Read conflicting studies, read to learn and read with the concept that science is pure, what happens in marketing is not science. I believe all ad for big pharm should be removed except from the company pages, the informed patient then searches for information and is not manipulated.

Sites like Natural News are great but as biased as site like the CCF, both trying to convince verses educate.

Realize if you read any study with the mindset that research is wrong, you will be changed as much as a Vegan looking at a site that sells prime rib. Learning is also pure and when you make the information something it is not to fit any agenda your not learning. When you read both sides and make an informed decision regardless of position you are opened to equally pure information, not information designed to sway your opinions.

The flu shot is 75% effective to the average individual, when you get older the effectiveness drops 40-50% at age 65, and 15-30% past age 70. This has nothing to do with the flu shot but the ability of our immune system as we get older. You will find as you get older, lots of things don't work exactly as they did when you were 25.
