My Dad got GBS in May 1989. He couldn't walk without braces on his feet., his fingers curled inward, and morphine didn't help his pain. The only reason he got the flu shot was because he had asthma...from May 1989 until he died in Jan. 2002 he worked as a liason for GBS and helped others like him. Some had a mild case; some were bed ridden, some got better, some didn't. No two cases are the same. Dad did his best to get the word out about the dangers of these shots. In Sept. of 1992 he had a heart attack and the next day a massive one which blew out a big hole in his heart. He needed emergency surgery which included a triple bypass. We always wondered if the heart problems were related to the shot too. We will never know for sure but what I do know is I never got a flu shot and I NEVER will. That's my opinion; people have to make up their own minds and do what they feel is best for them. I think they should know about the risks...

OMG...did something happen when she was travelling in India, that she got something there? As a nurse, surely, she would have known the inconclusive results of the seasonal flu shot, and what it does to the body. I sure hope that she gets better. In one of the pages that I read about the disease, well....here, I'll just paste it on here, I certainly would be looking into litigation (flu shot), "About 30 percent of those with Guillain-Barré still have a residual weakness after 3 years. About 3 percent may suffer a relapse of muscle weakness and tingling sensations many years after the initial attack." As there is no known cure for Guillain-Barré syndrome. TY, Peace for this story.

Back in the 1970's when the first outbreak of a swine flu was predicted, I was working for the Federal Gov't. It was mandatory that we recieve the flu vaccine. Within 4 hours of being vaccinated I reached a temperature of 103. I was very sick for 2 weeks. I didn't get another flu vaccine after that. Then it happened again. I had switched careers at the age of 40 and became a nurse. Now it's 1992 and another major flu outbreak was predicited. It was mandatory for hospital workers to get the shots yet again. Guess what People! I got sick again. This time it only took 3 hours to reach a fever of close to 104. That's deadly in adults in case you didn't know. I have not been vaccicnated since then and never will be again!!! I'm retired now so they can't force it on me at least. They are trying to force it on all hospital workers in New York State again. The nurses are fighting this one. God Bless Them!

They have been having talks about this back and forth, up and down, still they want children to get this. They have come out with SO MANY Reasons AGAINST having this done. One lady had it done and all of her ailments got worse, not she is in the hospital.

Yet another person has died here in San Diego from that friggen flu up to 25 now...and President Obama has just declared this flu a National Disaster I just read.

I don't plan to get this, nor do I usually get any shots except for tetnus, but the fact that they are "making some people" get this is ruffling my feathers.

I received the swine flu shot in the 70's also, I remember they said if you allergic to eggs don't get the shot, I had read info on the shot back then and it had something to do with egg whites. Anyway I never got sick after the shot, didn't feel anything. But I will be dam if I’m going to get another one.. No matter what the reason!! Or the strain is…

Unless in a high risk group, I'd be reluctant to get any type of flu shot.
