..the worst beverages that you could be drinking for your health. As the debate for whether to put a tax on the sale of soft drinks continues, you should know how they affect your body so that you can make an informed choice on your own. .

Good advice, especially about drinking organic fruit juices diluted with water which I already do. Aspartame has been known to cause brain tumors. There is too much sugar in commercial foods. Try finding cereal without any sugar in it. Grape Nuts and Shredded Wheat are the only two I found in my grocery store.

I cannot stand the thought of others drinking these drinks and the damage it does do to your body is so true especially if your teeth go bad you can imagine what your other body parts are doing by decaying??
Thanks Launi

Yes, you do harm yourself with soda and refined sugar and corn syrup carbonated drinks, coloring in Koolaid or other minimum or no fruit drink, drinks. Sodium Benzoate, used as a preservative, releases benzene into your system and it is very mutagenic. Besides that, when you study obese people's diets they are likely or disproportionately drinking large amounts of sugared drinks, like a half gallon or more a day!

The proposed TAX ON unhealthy refined sugar drinks is GREAT ! Make it expensive to hurt yourself. It costs all of US to support a health care system that has higher cancer rates, diabetes, and less productivity and younger deaths making our society worse because of these drinks. They should be treated like alcohol and taxed.

Drinking water instead is a good choice, but you better water down your juice if you think that is a good alternative to soda. Orange, apple, cherry, and grape juice all have more calories than an equal amount of Coke. Grape juice has about 30% more. The sugar in most soft drinks is made from plant sugars and there is virtually no difference between sugars anyway as far as your body is concerned.
Tax sodas, tax juice, tax air. Our problem is not a lack of taxes. Sodas can make you fat. Juice can make you fat. Cookies can make you fat. Bread can make you fat. All are already taxed quite enough.

Gorilly just think how many more animals you can help if you live longer not to mention how your friends and family would miss you very much. Non organic juice has a higher chance of having pesticides in it. I always water down my juice never liked it so strong. Thanks for the information Casey about the sodium benzoate. High fructose corn syrup is one thing I make sure is not an ingredient in anything I buy.

Glad I've hated the stuff all my life. When I was little the carbonation used to make me cry. And I always thought it was nasty tasting stuff!

Water, juice, tea, espresso, red wine!!! Yeah!

Fruit juice is just as acidic. The water is conatminated. Tea also contains caffeine and is high in toxic floride. I want my soda and i dont want to pay tax on it. They already have a soft drink candy tax here in illinois and it hasnt slowed anyone down one bit. I think it may have even encouraged more buying of soft drinks and candy because you think about them more now.

I think it's a bit ridiculous, to put another tax up on soft drinks? Look did that stop people from smoking? (NO)
It all comes down to quantities, if you drink a glass of coca cola it won't kill you a gallon glass a day will...THINK ABOUT IT. (QUANTITY) ....Not these elephant burgers and whale glass soft drinks!!! Wake up people. Let's get back to normal size...drinks and food you won't die if your drink is in a glass and not a bucket!
