A 20-year-old woman from Iraq has died in an Arizona hospital, nearly two weeks after her father, police say, ran her over with a car because she had become "too Westernized."

I hope he gets life in prison and lives to a ripe old age so he can remember for a very long time that he murdered a beautiful young lady for his bloodthirsty god!!! Crap like this is one of the reasons why I am a militant atheist. Religion sucks, some more than others.

Poor girl; I have had in her in my thoughts and prayers; I do not follow any religion but I think prayer is sending love, light, healing, and positives vibes...
at any rate this makes me SO sad-I do NOT understand the 'religious' side of this...

They do not seem to undestand that their children have a right to chose how they wish to live - it is their life they are not here to live their lives as their parents see fit!!! Dreadful man - hope he gets his just punishment.
Thanx Marty Dear One - Love & Light

Good morning, I dont believe that religion in itself kills, but the use of it as a tool for the power hungry. The original versions of many religious documents have to 'translated' to the point that they only serve special interest groups. I dont follow any group because of that. God or Godess, if there is one, does not want us killing our children, or family, or the people in other countries just because they are different. Or because of oil or any other reason supposed religious people give for harm. IMHO its kind of like the voice in your head, if it tells you to hurt people then you are crazy.

Marty, you might want to find a bible and read the old testament. It is full of god's condoning murder, his demanding wholesale genocide and his own massacre of large numbers of men, women and CHILDREN for no other reason than they will not worship him. I would say by god setting these kinds of examples it makes religion just as guilty as the crazies that actually commit the crimes against humanity.

Ralph is right Marty religion most certainly kills just read the history of christianity and then there's modern day Islam; mind you modern day christianity is not any better they seem to make some sort of disingenuous distiction that bombing from 30,000 feet is somehow superior to having it strapped to your chest; the only superiority I see is technology. What is wrong with all these "Abrahamic" religions?
If this man was so opposed to his daughter becoming "westernised" why is he living in Arizona?
In the absence of the death penalty to which I'm philosophically opposed; life in jail where he can ruminate at length on his actions and how he "saved" his daughter for his god.

I stand by my view that it isnt religion that kills. The Bible isnt the word of God but Mans translation, power mongering, and excuses for the violence that we do. Religion on its own isnt anything but a theory to explain things. Add humans and you get instant violence. Kind of like communism looked good on paper but when you involve humans... Humans (not all) will use anything to gather power and hurt others. Just because there are documents that say they are the word of God, that doesnt make it true. How many times have those documents been translated? Each time they were they got 'enhanced' to fit the time period and the views of the person paying for the translation. Now having said that, I will say that I am not a religios person. I mean no offense to those that are or arent. I dont trust my fellow humans translations of most religios documents. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the views.
