I think old historic remains could be a problem because the actual archeologist and historians get "too thought" about historical findings. There is not understanding between old stones and new concrete...they are enemies. In Spain, when digging, everybody pray not to find old structures...or even an old pot, because that means to close the site... I think there should be respect on both sides. Again, in Spain, the roman roads are neglected...in south France you can walk thousend of miles on roman paths.
