Well, it is actually a natural thing as Sue mentioned and animals do eat the placenta instincively (very strange to see mares doing it but they do) but, well, euh... I understand how the father felt...

Some peoples in celebration of the birth partook of the placenta made into a stew/soup. Why waste perfectly good nourishment. Our cats and dogs ate theirs. At the Hospitals they save/freeze them and sell them. (recall that Placenta shampoo you use?) I found examining them very interesting.They are like a life-support system for the growing fetus.

This is the most disgusting thing I have yet to see on this site. I guess the debate whether the Chinese truly were eating fetuses and selling them for stews etc is over. Americans will be buying babies to eat before long...how sick. By the way...placenta = human, human = cannibalism. So...let's see, Christians intolerant and hateful. Yet abortion is good, eating placenta's is acceptable, homosexuality is normal, and the fundamentalist Christian is the problem? We are without a doubt on the very brink of the very last days.

Um, now I have to say I am pretty progressive in thinking and ideas but I think the placenta eating thing is just NASTY!!!!
I however also DO NOT think placenta eating is going start a trend of baby eating Daniel.
