I hiked several sections of the trail when I was young(er) and I recommend the experience.

I went on part of the appalacian trail near chattanooga. It was great.

I have lived in properties abutting the trail in both New Jersey and Virginia. I recommend visiting the area because of its great natural beauty. Many violent attacks on women hiking alone have occurred over the last several years. I do not believe anyone should hike the trail but in a large group.

Thanks Frances. Even when I went it was safer for women to traval in groups. Good reminder!
