A new image from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope offers a rare view of an imminent collision between the cores of two merging galaxies, each powered by a black hole with millions of times the mass of the sun.

Very interesting; probably the only incentive to wish for a lifespan of millions of years. Not quite as imminent as global warming though; we'll be around for that barring any problems with the Large Hadron Collider while we're on the subject of collisions. :)
