Scientists at the Smithsonian Institution have discovered a new species of bird in Gabon, Africa, that was, until now, unknown to the scientific community.

At risk of sounding like a dour pessimist, it makes me a little nervous when new species are discovered, because it likely means that people, and their habitats, are getting closer to wild areas where humans weren't there to make the discovery before...which means danger for the newly discovered species. But it's still nice to see and maybe the discovery of a new species will help people be mindful about all biodiversity
