This makes me so mad that these people showed up today. This boy was the son of a man I knew when I lived in Liberty, IN. I have remained friends with this boys uncle and aunt over the years. He left behind a wife and son. Why do these kind of people have to show up and make a bad day even harder on this family? I am sorry, but I feel like they are using a church name just to cover up that they are a hate group.

I would welcome the opportunity to attend Rev. Fred Phelps' funeral.

Let me know and we will go together! I went to their website...I don't know about you all but I have never been to a church that cusses let alone uses that type of language on their websites!

UPDATE: "A threatened protest by members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., never materialized. The group had listed Clarkston's funeral as a site for a planned protest on its Web site." I am so relieved for my friends that these people stayed away this time!!

Just remember everyone, the Religious Right is always right. Just ask them. They'll tell you. Self-righteous jackasses!

"Union County and Liberty are good people and I have faith in them," he said.
Residents are upset at the possibility of out-of-town protesters at a soldier's funeral.
Veteran Gary Moon called the protests "absolutely disgraceful."
Good quote from the article on a soldier, husband and father that died in a chopper crash in Washington state........

This is nothing more than a renegade group of viscious wackos.
Consider thanking the ACLU for constantly protecting many dangerous groups. When the pendulum swings so far left in the interest of political correctness, what occurs is anarchy.
Anytime a group of individuals(ACLU) has that much power to twist our laws and value systems to work against us,it is indeed a sad commentary.Law suits to bully towns into not celebrating holidays, protecting pedophile groups and yes also protecting the rights of these smears on the face of humanity to disrupt a fallen soldiers burial ceremony.
Clearly they are not religious or sanctioned by Bush as one comment suggests. They apparently do enjoy the freedoms this country has fought for with blood, sweat and tears.Perhaps that has been lost on them.It has not been lost on the ACLU who falsly advertises protecting your rights.
Life, events seem to happen in waves.Too far right-too far left. Both unhealthy positions creating no balance and little dignity, freedom or strength. Not the building blocks for a strong country or individual productive member of society.
They are but one of many vulgar, hateful, ignorant, unhappy groups wasting air that good men could/should be breathing.Like the man who just gave his life to protect their right to be ases.
