Similar to tons of Americans, you may delight in bird watching and find it to be a great hobby.

$100.00??? Good golly I attract birds of all kinds to my yard for less than $25.00, simply by planting a tree and then taking (as odd as it sounds) a 30 gallon garbage can lid and using it as a bird bath. Simply drill three holes in the way top are of the lid so you can attach heavy gauge fishing line or other handy cording you may have around. Then hang from your house eaves or even a good tree branch out of the reach of cats. Fill with water and birds love it all year round. If you paint the non water side with black waterproof paint this adds warmth in winter so the water doesn't freeze as easily. And you can find easy Internet sites for making homemade bird feeders using plastic water bottles and 2 litre soda pop bottles.

Having lots of flowers for at least humming birds is the cheapest way I know how to enjoy year long bird watching, having trees helps also.

plant sunflowers (variet of songbirds and bees) , allow thistle to bloom (finches, hummingbirds, butterflies, and moths). i got a gazing ball pedastal out of someone's trash purchased a terra cotta dish from garden shop for $3.00 or $4.00 dollars made a bird bath /waterer...i purchased plastic poultry water and feed cups from feed store i hung them from wire on my arbor for water and seed...nurseries and some (not Mal-Wart) will discount even give weak or dying plants...most just need a good watering or a good feeding of organic fertilizer...ask lawn garden centers if they have busted bags of seed...they will discount them greatly??? most often...

I just have a feeder (it's now 20 feet in air on aircraft cable between 2 trees, thanks to black bears). It has attracted a variety of beautiful birds, and I'm thankful they are around, they eat the bugs too...espcially Pheobes
