PITTSBURGH -- Americans facing rising gasoline and diesel prices are cycling about, saddling up, singing out and, sometimes, resorting to violent symbolism.

In Sweden we pay twice as much as in USA for gas.
How about that?

I'll bet there is a greater use and cultural acceptance of public transportation. Are gas prices in Sweden also rising?

Public transport is ok in bigger cities. In most European countries one can walk or bike to work. These countries are way smaller and therefor the distances are less. Here in Canada and in the USA distances from town to town or even within cities are much bigger.Cars are almost a necessity. I was born and raised in Germany and always walked to see friends or go to work. I could not do that here in Canada. Public transport is a pain in the rear in small cities. I have lived in Toronto for 25+ years and never had a car. Now I live in a small city and I need a car.But if the gas prices keep rising I will sell the car and take taxis. That would be cheaper in the long run. What really surprises me is that the independent trucker have not started any protests about high diesel prices. I wonder why??

Maybe it will get bad enough to go back to the horse & buggy wouldn't that be strange.. we come along way only to go back in time... back to the wood stoves & all that great time consuming stuff..
MIGHT JUST HAPPEN.... that would be a Protest in itself...
