If the USDA sez it's organic, I should believe them?

Puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeze. Too much money to leave on the table so the industry coopted the term 'organic', getting the definition to be more friendly towards factory farming.

And of course, the USDA, said Aye, aye, great captains of industry, your wishes are our commands.

Poof! You're organic.

What really bothers me is that the USDA and others are being swayed by financial and political reasons to allow the use of organic. The farm has been reported on since 2004.

Since the use of the word organic is only a label, it does not affect whether the food can make it to the table. It does affect what prices can be charged though, because currently, it may be more expensive to produce. Now everybody is scrambling for this label to increase their prices, rather than pricing via economic reasons.

I truly hope the name organic will mean something in the future. What other option does a consumer have if he does not personally know who produces his product?
