Iroquois Confederacy in 1536. The evidence shows that this European
community was massacred in conflict with the Iroquois in the year 1571.

Now, this supposed European history of Northeastern North America
offered in Swords at Sunset contradicts the conventional and academicallyaccepted
story of our schooldays history books.

I have photographically illustrated and described a few medieval European
artifacts from the Niagara Escarpment (and some from the Quebec-Vermont
border) in Swords at Sunset
However, there is both documentary and artifactual evidence that there were
a few survivors who either fled into the far west via the Great Lakes or who
found local havens in the mountains of the Northeast and lingered until the
first known "history book" European explorers arrived.

"I am the author of a book called Swords at Sunset that is scheduled for
Autumn 2005 publication by Manor House Publishing Inc. of Ancaster
(Hamilton), Ontario. The first chapter and the Epilogue of Swords at Sunset
can be read on my website at http://www.michaelbradley.info. I also did
historical research for the film producers of National Treasure and The
DaVinci Code.
Swords at Sunset offers artifactual, documentary and inter-related corollary
evidence that a community of European religious refugees established a
settlement on the Niagara Escarpment sometime around AD 1425-1450.
They are distinguished from later religious refugees that settled North
America because they believed in the so-called “Holy Grail”. This “Holy
Grail” has been presented as being various things from the “Cup of the Last
Supper” to a heretical form of Christianity that became popular during the
2
medieval period. In Swords at Sunset, I offer the evidence that this socalled
“Holy Grail” was nothing more, but nothing less either, than a
medieval remembrance of true and original Christianity – a word that
literally means “Messiah worship”.
This religion came from the Atlantic Coast of Europe thousands of years
before Judaism was codified (as Eusebius and St. Augustine knew). It had
nothing whatever to do with the Judeo-Christian distortion of it by Saul/Paul
in the New Testament and nothing whatever to do with the “Holy Land” and
Middle Eastern culture. This religion, ironically called a “heresy” by
orthodox Christianity, was almost totally destroyed in a religious war called
the “Albigensian Crusade” (circa AD 1209-1244) that raged in southern
France. Some Grail-believers escaped to Scotland. From there they fled to
North America in a series of desperate transatlantic voyages between 1370
and 1398.
They explored inland from their landfalls in Canada’s Nova Scotia
(“Estotiland”) and Massachusetts-Rhode Island in the U. S. (“Drogeo”).
The intent of these medieval Grail-believing refugees who reached Lake
Ontario about 1425-1450 was, obviously, to establish a settlement from
which the interior of the North American continent could be explored,
exploited and colonized via the “Upper Great Lakes” above Niagara Falls.
But there is also documentary evidence that they were confined to the
Escarpment, “west” and north of the Niagara River, by treaty with the
Iroquois Confederacy in 1536. The evidence shows that this European
community was massacred in conflict with the Iroquois in the year 1571.
However, there is both documentary and artifactual evidence that there were
a few survivors who either fled into the far west via the Great Lakes or who
found local havens in the mountains of the Northeast and lingered until the
first known "history book" European explorers arrived.
Now, this supposed European history of Northeastern North America
offered in Swords at Sunset contradicts the conventional and academicallyaccepted
story of our schooldays history books.

My reconstruction of North America’s European history is either correct or
it is not.
Photograph from Chapter 1 of Swords at Sunset. The
justification and rationale for the semi-nude of the coauthor
is fully explained in the text.
I have photographically illustrated and described a few medieval European
artifacts from the Niagara Escarpment (and some from the Quebec-Vermont
border) in Swords at Sunset.
And I hereby make an offer and issue a challenge. I propose an
“expedition” to the Niagara Escarpment. It would consist of an accredited
archaeologist, a newspaper reporter-photographer and the co-authors of
Swords at Sunset. By agreement, this “expedition” would explore only the
exact locations where the Grail settlement was located, according to Swords
at Sunset. The object would be to find and record more and other medieval
European artifacts that will either prove or disprove Swords at Sunset.
I have already done some preliminary planning for such an “expedition”. It
will basically require a specialized kind of boat called a “Jon Boat” and the
boat will require further modification. I have designed these as required.
The “expedition” would explore the shallow and serpentine waterways of
the “Lost Settlement” (the Welland Feeder Canal, Beaver Creek, parts of
Twenty Mile Creek, Wainfleet Marsh and parts of the Welland River).
4
After this initial “Niagara” phase of this “expedition” has been completed –
where I know there are medieval European artifacts yet to be discovered –
the investigation could extend to other North American waterways.
In two previous books, Holy Grail Across the Atlantic (Hounslow Press,
Toronto, 1988) and Grail Knights of North America (The Dundurn Group,
Toronto, 1998), I have illustrated and described Grail-related artifacts left by
Grail explorers between about 1400 and 1550.
These waterways include Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River, Long
Island Sound and the Connecticut River (and Barton River north to Lake
Memphremagog), the entire Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River system, the
Ohio and Mississippi-Missouri River systems south to about Kansas City.
Out west, the Grail trail includes the Missouri and both Saskatchewan Rivers
across the U.S. and Canadian Prairies to the Rockies, and thereafter part of
the Fraser and Columbia River systems to the Pacific Ocean.
Therefore, this “Quest” would affect and interest a substantial portion of the
entire North American population.
Is there a daily newspaper sufficiently interested in recovering a lost
European chapter of U.S. and Canadian history to wholly or partly
sponsor such an “expedition” in September 2005?
Are there U.S. and Canadian manufacturers willing to supply some of
the necessary equipment?"

"I find Swords at Sunset to be an astonishing work of speculative non-fiction." - John Robert Colombo - from the author's website.
The operative word is speculative. Interesting idea tho.

I was drawn to the article's description with the mention of places I sometimes remember and miss: Welland Canal (almost jumped in it...LOL); Lake Ontario; Niagara Falls; Niagara Escarpment; Golden HorseShoe...so I noted it for those wonderful places. Who knows for sure what "original" Christianity is?

We went to Niagara-on-the-Lake last year. Edna and I were impressed by the Welland Canal. It is not as popular an attraction as that other waterway connecting the two Great Lakes - in fact, Edna and I pretty much had the Welland Canal museum to ourselves.

Michael Bradley also wrote "Holy Grail Across The Atlantic" (1988) and "More Than A Myth" (1988). The latter mentions a nessie-type monster in Muskrat Lake near Cobden, Ontario and also UFO's.
